What this guy said. Just save up, dude you should be able to come up with 50 dollars in a month. Garage sale? sell some baseball cards?
It will be worth the wait. Deal with the crappy ride now, and just spend the 50 extra.

Case closed.

Well... maybe. SS shocks new and in good shape aren't bad at all... but Z28/Forumla/V-6 shocks are a good bit less decent and in those cases I'd take the Tokico's for certain over the stockers. And by say 20k miles, the stock stuff has suffered enough that I'd also change those.

Sam what is the difference in the SLP Bilsteins and the other Bilsteins you have for sale?
Honestly, these days they are pretty much the same thing... I can get and sell SLP's for less than buying Bilstein "HD's" direct, so that's what I do. SLP's are $384.99/set Tokico's are around $359, AGX's I recall are about $379. You can see not much difference really on price.. but a big difference in quality.

So Sam which of those 3 would work the best with the Eibach springs? I want to make a smart choice and not have the shocks wear out early because of the lowering springs. Another factor is that my Eibachs are about 10 years old. I'm not sure how to tell if a spring has gone bad or if that is even possible.

You werent coming off like a dick...i appreciate everyone's opinion on here especially because so many people have tried so many different things its important to hear about what works well for our cars.

First, you have an LT1, and LT1 and LS1 Eibach's are different--what you have is stiffer than LS1's by a mile, and even stiffer than mine (which why I laugh when I hear folks are afraid of mine because they don't "race their cars").... Anyway... the stiffer rate means they work the shocks harder.

None of them are perfect... Koni's are still the best, but among those 3, Bilstein's... because they will stay working at a decent level for a much longer period of time. Ultimately when new the AGX's might give you a bit more control, but it won't last.

And if you have a bad spring, it'll sag.

Thanks Sam. So with my LT1 Eibachs even the SLP Bilstiens will be working hard but they should last a ton longer than stock right? Also how many of you guys have changed all 4 shocks yourself? I'm just wondering how big of a pain this is going to be to do it myself.

Stock are build to a lot price, and not meant to last forever either. So yes, Bilstein's will be much more durable.

Do the Bilsteins come with a base to hold the spring in place or does this have to be welded on somehow? Looking to change front shocks from stock. Thanks

Dont ever EVER weld ANYTHING to a shock body unless you like having a bomb go off in your face.

You may have to use the spring base off the stock shocks on the Bilsteins, but you sure as hell dont have to weld anything.

i have had the bmr springs with the tokico's for two + years now, and they worked great. bottomed out occasionally, but handled well and made it work for the $. recently i upgraded the rears to koni's; much better, but still have the blues up front. one of the bushings on the lower is shot, and clicks, but they still work fine till i want to upgrade...

Bilstein's reuse the stock spring perch. It slips off the stock shock, onto the Bilstein. No welding or cutting. No they don't come with a new one, so you have to have one accessible to you from your stock shocks (or someone's stock shocks).

As for rabbit320's thoughts I guess we just have different ideas of what is acceptable. They aren't as good Bilstein's, or Koni's. Sure you could say well Koni's cost more, but Bilstein's really don't.
