If he feels it cut back on power, would that indicate he has TCS/ASR and its kicking in. I guess it would be easier for him to just tell us if he has it or not.

obviously if you swing your car out wide it will cut the power for more then a quick second but you get the idea. when the car believes it will gain enough traction it lets the gas pedal work again.
your TCS is hooked into your rear end via electric connectors, maybe the power isnt shut off from the engine maybe it stops the diff for a quick second. either way i think this is how traction control works.
