Talking BMR Lower control arms with rubber bushings!!!

Many people don't realize it but we have a rubber bushing option for any of our lower control arms that use our poly-urethane bushings. The is an option that can be done with part numbers BCA001, TCA001, MTCA001, MTCA002, and TCA004. There are a few guys on the board who currrently have this option on their BMR lower control arms, but I want to make sure everyone knows. Here are a couple of pictures with our TCA001 and MTCA002 with the rubber bushings. If anyone has any questions just let me know and I will answer them.

Thanks,
Kyle

Is the option available for purchase through your website? I had to call to get mine...not that it was difficult or anything, but it would be even more convenient if they were listed as an option online.

Regardless, I really like mine. Thanks for having it as an option. And thanks for having that chick in your sig. She's hawt.

I am going to get some parts numbers made up for the lower control arms with the rubber bushings and get them up on the website that way they can be purchased through our website. Until that happens it would be best for people just to give me a call here at the shop.

I hope to have some new picture pretty soon!

Definetly think these are the best for a daily driver, dont have to deal with rod ends and still allow for articulation of the suspension.

That is why most guys take advantage of the rubber bushings. They are dead quite and still perform a lot better than the stock arms.

How much would these affect the 60' vs rod ends on a high 9 sec car?

I wouldn't use these to race with in a 9 second car, the rubber just won't handle the abuse like a poly-urethane bushing or rod end. Since the bushings are rubber there is some deflection in it which will allow for unwanted movement on a car with that kind of power.

To further point out some perks of these bushings I figured I would show some additional data on our rubber bushings. First, the bushing is not actually rubber, it's manufactured from neoprene, a rubber substitute with many advantages over rubber.

From DuPont's website:
"Neoprene polychloroprene is an extremely versatile synthetic rubber with more than 75 years of proven performance in a broad industry spectrum. It was originally developed as an oil-resistant substitute for natural rubber. Neoprene is noted for a unique combination of properties, which has led to its use in thousands of applications in diverse environments."

A Balanced Combination of Properties
  • Resists degradation from sun, ozone and weather
  • Performs well in contact with oils and many chemicals
  • Remains useful over a wide temperature range
  • Displays outstanding physical toughness
  • Resists burning inherently better than exclusively hydrocarbon rubbers
  • Outstanding resistance to damage caused by flexing and twisting
Unlike the rubber used in the OE bushings, BMR bushings are not effected by the elements. They won't deteriorate, dry out, or crack like rubber does. They withstand higher temperatures and are resistant to chemicals. Additionally, our bushings are solid, similar to the 1LE bushings yet smaller in diameter so deflection is minimized even further.

As you can see below our polyurethane is formulated to a 90 durometer while the rubber is just under 65, almost identical to what the 1LE bushings measure. This allows more articulation than the polyurethane yet the smaller diameter of the bushing prevents excess deflection when loaded.

Out of curiosity, how does the durometer gauge work?

It's a fairly simple instrument. There is very small pin that protrudes from the bottom of the gauge. The gauge is calibrated to work on materials of this nature and as you can see it only scales 0-100. When the needle is pushed against the rubber it collapses up into the instrument. At the point where the instrument bottoms out against the object being measured, you take your reading.

Can I just purchase the rubber bushings seperately? I've searched everywhere and this is the first time i've seen anyone selling rubber bushings for aftermarket rear control arms.

These bushings can be purchased seperately but they are designed for our BMR LCAs so we can't be positive that they will work with other manufacturer's LCAs. We are about 6-8 weeks out from having these in stock since we are waiting on them to be made from our manufacturer.

There's one out there that puts rubber in one end and poly in the other...but out of respect for BMR, I'll leave it at that.
