Default Re-powdercoating springs?

Before re-powdercoating these Strano springs, I'm wondering if there's anything I have to worry about (like when powdercoating Al nitrous bottles). Or, how about when stripping the old coating off...anything to worry about there?

Are springs powdercoated? It seems to me that powder paint would be way to rigid, and would crack and flake off as the spring was compressed.

Excellent question! I don't know. I figured they were since everything else suspension related seems to be.

I do believe that they are powder coated. I know it seems that it was crack and flake off but I have read from some manufactures that they are powdercoated. Best thing to do would be to ask your coater what they think. I plan on coating my springs white on my coilovers. They use standard 2.5" springs and they are a nasty blue color. I like that my Stranos on the car now are white, they match the car lol.

I don't see why you would do that, since its really hard to notice the color of the springs when they are on the car.

May not be the easiest thing to see but you still can see them just fine. The fronts are pretty noticeable. If you seen the bottem side of the car you would understand. Its showroom fresh and always kept clean. I get a lot of complements on the underside of the car.

It keeps them from rusting...

REALLY????

I don't see where the OP said he wanted to change the color..... Anyway, color change or not, powder coating/painting keeps the springs from rusting.

He didn't say that, but he said he wants to "re" powdercoat the springs, which probably means that he wants to change something from the original....I'm assuming color, but maybe he just wants to do it for ***** and giggles.

They're chipped and looking nasty, and beginning to rust. Another poster wanted to change colors, but I'm not sure what any of that matters anyway. I'll probably pick a different color too, as white doesn't match ****.

Are you planning on powdercoating yourself or having someone else do it? If you're going with a professional, they could probably make a recommendation for you.
