Default Thinking about lowering the SS..............

So, I got a 99 SLP SS. Its got the stock slp shocks and 17 inch zr1 rims. Ive heard a lot of good about BMR springs. What else would i need along with the springs to lower it? I'm new to suspension modifications. Help is much appreciated

Thanks,
Justin

The shocks you have should be fine, I guess you could look into an adjustable PHB (being lowering the car should shift your rear to the left without shortening up the PHB....it seems to matter more on some cars than others) and LCA relocation brackets (if you have problems with wheel hop)....other than that, you already have shocks that should do the job well, and that's the major investment.

If you want to, you could step up to Koni's, but I'd definitely see if you're happy with the ride/handling with your stock shocks (Bilsteins are >>>> stock Decarbons) before investing in those.

BMR springs are good. I have Strano springs and Koni's ready to install along with an adjustable panhard bar. Lowering springs will kill stock shocks in no time, plus the ride will suffer. I plan on upgrading the sway bars after the springs and shocks.

This, I bought some BMR springs to raise my car up and took off the front driver side shock and the top half was rusted out so I had to reinstall it and order some SLP bilistens shocks along with Sphon ball joints ($500 shipped from WS6 Store) and then when went to put everything on it took me and a buddy 4 hours just to do the front cause it was rusted so bad. So a word of advise I would just go ahead and buy some new shocks if you can afford it. If yours had very low miles then you might be fine but I would not chance it cause doing the work twice sucks

Mine has 55k miles with the slp bilstein shocks already. I wouldnt think those would be horribly rusted. It hasnt been drivin in winter. The only thing im worried about is my y pipe hanging too low. Do you guys have any problems bottoming out with an aftermarket y pipe?

BMR springs here, great overall height and quality spring. I'd put a UMI torque arm w/ the relocate bracket, LCA's and a UMI panhard bar on at the same time. Shock wise, the KYB AGX are a good shock for the money.

Here's a picture of mine with the BMR & KYB AGX.
