Stock Suspension vs Coilover Suspension Question
Hey Guys,
I currently own a Roller Project (98 Z28) and it has QA1 Coilovers in front (Unknown Spring Rate) and QA1 Shocks in back.
I'll be quite honest, I don't know too much about Coilover Struts to decide whether I should keep the Fronts and pickup a Rear Kit, or switch back to the stock Suspension.
All I know, is that when the car is finished, I would like it to handle wonderfully on an autocross/road racing track, hook decently on the street/strip and be able to drive around town no problems.
Can anyone shed some light on the topic?
Thanks,
Jim

There are no struts on 4th Gens, they are coil-over (in front) shocks stock.

^ What the above posts says + QA1s are drag shocks, they are only going to hurt your handling and ride quality. Look into handling/sport shocks like Bilstien or Koni, and stay away from non-gas charged drag stuff like Afco, QA1, Strange etc.

Any more info? You can pm me if you'd rather. I just really like the adjustability of my QA1's up front, but wish they were a better handling shock/spring combo. I was planning on going with the koni/strano setup, but would much rather have coilovers all around.

You can also look into race bilstiens or penske shocks (both are custom valved for you).

Or you can put the ground control adjustable coilover sleeve over your front shocks, thats a much cheaper alternative. And you can buy an adjustable spring perch that mounts to the axle and lets you adjust height (I think this is a ground control piece too).
There have been numerous threads about why running a coilover stlye in the rear is looked down upon, mostly because the mounting point is not strong enough.
