Default No bumper supports bad for chassis flex?

I have had front and rear bumper supports out of the car for a few months. I love the weight reduction but im wondering if this is not very good for the chassis seeing how the front and rear are no longer tied together. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

I dont see how it would effect the chassis. You got a big old k member and the radiator support running right across the front. I think its more for crash protection. Hit something without it and your going to total your car.

Buddy got rear ended and fucked **** up without it.

That along with bumper sag are the cons.

Pros are obvious.

Ok so no issues with anything unless the obvious (accident)
Iv read somewhere the bumper supports are only good for 15mph or so. Any truth to that?

They have to help a little.

You need to install something to help hold the bumper up so it doesnt sag. I used those flat aluminum rods. They are like 4$$ each and easy to cut and bend. Installed them underneath where holes already were. One on high sides and one in front. Then on top where the big push pins were i adjusted them and used some bolts instead of the push pins they have on them. Bumper was way more firm and better fitting.

On the rear I did two right under where the license plate is straight back to gas tank, already place to secure them with holes.

Trans am has more problem sagging cause bigger bumpers but Camaro still does on some.

For the the front in particular I would pull it off and cut some metal out of it then replace it. It's the best (free) happy medium. I cut square sections out of mine and funneled the air from the bumper inlets with metal dryer ducting through the metal support and into the backside of plastic air chamber infront of the condenser. Does it keep the car/engine cooler? Who knows....but it makes me feel good to be sucking more air.

"15mph bumpers" are a crash rating. it means that @ 15mph or less, only the bumper/ rebar will sustain damage. Its so that people aren't stuck with replacing headlights / fenders / radiator supports when they pull to far into their garage and such

it does NOT mean that the bumper reinforcement is useless in higher speed accidents

as far as removing them: if you get into a wreck w/o them in, be very very nice with the insurance company, they can tell you to go F yourself on repairs because your actions led to your vehicle becoming a 15k repair when it should have been a 5k repair

and now that i looked it up, the federal standard is not 15mph, its 2.5mph, used to be 5mph but got rolled back for 83 and newer cars.
