Antilock brakes, it's doing what it was designed to do: Keep the brakes from locking up the wheels.

This, pay attention to the road and stop having to slam on the brakes

It'll be a little worse if you're in a turn when you do it, because it will create even more disparity of speeds between the wheels.

If it's pulsating, it might be a warped rotor, however if will do it even at lower speeds as well. Sounds like ABS doing it's job.

I am experiencing a similar problem, but mine seems like it's an ABS issue, rather than the ABS doing its job.

Wheel/tire sizes different from stock can also be the problem of ABS having "issues". Something like more than 4% difference in overall diameter compared to stock will throw it off from my understanding

If you absolutely jam the crap out of your brakes, then your brakes will fight you back. Happens to me at autox when finishing at the stop box. I just brake smoother when getting in there. I apply the same pressure eventually but do it more gradually.

That's also a way to over heat the brakes and lose time. It really should be a strong initial pressure and then tapering off, especially when going into corners (i know, you said stop box..)
