Default FYI - Upper Balljoint Replacements

If you buy the moog upper ball joint replacements don't use the supplied bolts to tighten them down in the a-arm. You will want to go out and purchase new bolts that are a better grade. The bolts supplied will snap very easily. I went with grade 8 1/4' bolts with lock washers and new nuts.

I'm not the only who has had the problem. RsSean on here had the same issues. This was just a fyi to people getting ready to install them. If yours are installed and have been fine I wouldn't worry about this and would disregard.

Me neither....

If you're talking about snapping the bolts while installing the ball joints, it generally means that you're trying to tighten them too tight.

A torque wrench is your friend.

You could see the gap between it and was not sitting flat and could still see threads. In fact, the bolts broke in the middle twice. I put grade 8 in it now. Won't happen again. And they weren't crossed threaded. Just cheap bolts.

They should have come with graded bolts IMO. I don't want a cheap bolt holding in a ball-joint.

Mine came with grade 8, but a good precaution FYI/A for others to check grade and clearance of supplied hardware none the less.

I agree. HOWEVER, I've seen instances where lowlifes have purchased parts from the auto parts store, simply because they needed new hardware, took the "good" parts from the package, then threw in crappy bolts and returned the part to the store, saying I didn't need it afterall.......
