Default UMI Panhard bar bolt fitment

Ok so I was installing my umi panhard bar roto-joint today, and when i went to put it all back together, the bolt on the passenger side wouldn't fit. Then i noticed the bolt had a sleeve on it and it would only go in about half way through. So i took a grinder to it and made it so there was no more sleeve. It went in fine after that. My question is, if i grinded too much off, can that be bad? Like if theres a larger tolerance between the panhard sleeve and the bolt. Can that cause an issue?

Here's the bolt after i grinded it

Hey, good morning.

The frame has a 14mm hole on one side and a 12mm on the other. That bolt goes in from front to back. It's tough to install sometimes with the spring so the solution is to carefully block the car up with the suspension hanging down and rotate the coil until you can push the bolt past the open space.

If you didn't grind anything on the frame, just the bolt, you can repair it with a new stepped bolt but they're tough to find. Right now the only negative is you'll have 2mm slop in the rear hole on the chassis.

Well it wasnt an issue of fitting it in. I positioned the spring right to get the bolt in, but the bolt sleeve wouldnt go through the sleeve in the panhard bar, thats why i had to grind it down. Theres a .5-.75 tolerance max between the bolt and the panhard sleeve. it fit tight in the frame holes and i tightened that **** really hard.

or..............you can use a stepped drill bit and drill it out to 9/16......you will find that the bushings in the PHB fit the 9/16 bolt perfect...........the stock bolts fits with lots of SLOP....i drilled out both sides to fit the bolts and it cut down on a lot of noise too

you will also notice that i did the same setup on the upper track arm......you see those dimples in the pic.....if you grind them down you can use a 9/16 bolt in there too
