Default What are THE most durable aftermarket rotors for an LS1?

Since buying my 99 TA, I've had a set of Powerslot rotors on my car, which warped within 6 months, and a set of EBC rotors, one of which has cracked in about four months. Neither of these problems occurred under ANY racing conditions. (I've only raced my car ONCE since I got it, that was on the Powerslots and they were already WELL warped at the time)

Most of my driving is on the highway. I DO tend to go harder on brakes than most people for street driving, but it's not like I'm stopping from 150 or anything. My car rarely sees over 80MPH.

I am wondering at this point whether I should replace these EBCs with another set of EBCs, upgrade to some Eradispeeds, or just get a set of el-cheapo rotors from Autozone or Pep Boys. I need something that's going to last more than a couple months. This car is a daily driver.

What, in your experience, are THE most durable rotors on the market for LS1s?

20K on autozone rotors, and they've been fine for me.

What's the actual brand name of "Autozone" rotors? Are they actually manufactured by Autozone, or are they like Raybestos or something?

Also, did you notice much difference performance-wise? And should I put new pads on when replacing the rotors?

Thanks.

AIMCO

AutoZone has the regular model for $39 each and the Extreme model which costs about $94 each.

I just called Autozone and they told me they don't carry an "Extreme" model for the rear and the regular brake is $61

Are those the ones you guys are using on the rear?

40k miles on KVR silver cadmium plated cross-drilled rotors (w/ KVR carbon fiber pads). No durability issues and I HAVE stopped from 150mph on 3 occasions. See http://www.mevin327.com/kvr_brakes.htm for them on my car. I bought them from this exact package deal: http://www.fasttoys.net/9398fbodypackages.html $443 front/rear rotors plus $150 to add pads.

Note: these did not increase my braking ability or make wet braking better, as some may claim w/ cross-drilled rotors. I am simply happy that they have not warped and still work great 2 years later.

I dont have them myself, so I dont know from experience.
On their website, they also only list the "Extreme" version for the front.

I run brembo OEM fronts (www.tirerack.com) for $61 each and let my race pads chew them up (it is not the rotors fault). I destroy pads, and they never warp. My rear rotors are from Bendix from Larry at Carbotech (www.carbotecheng.com). $55 each as I remember.

Oh, and parking the car with the brakes "hot" kills rotors. Try to take it easy for the last mile to the house. Sliding into the garage and parking the door with the garage door shut is the worst thing for them. They will warp much more readily if treated that way.

Have fun!
