I really have no idea why poly mounts are hated. I had used them on 2 cars over the past 5 years. They have a little bit of vibration at first, but they soften up after a few weeks to feel like stock, but stronger. It most definitely helps the feel when shifting wide open. The problem is people put them on, and immediately remove them and then come bash them online. I would like to see proof of a poly trans mount busting a transmission tail shaft while on rubber motor mounts. I have yet to find this myth proven.

I'll always use poly mounts.

Prothane here. No plate to worry about.

Agree with HoLLo though. You HAVE to give the mount a good 200 miles to "break in." I love my Prothane.... and I even have Spohn solid motor mounts.

On many newer cars you can control wheel hop via ECM tuning (brake actuation) - similar to traction control settings.

I did the complete suspension kit 1st & now ive got the poly trans & motor mounts You can feel the pebbles in the road lol If youve got vibrations it will magnify them But its way better than stock I pulled the suspension off my v6 firebird & put it on the T/A & other than road grime they looked new after 20k The bird would do 85mph before the install on a certain curve After wide open at 110mph I also had nitrogen in the tires Love that **** too I give Energy Suspension 2 thumbs up Cant wait to see how my 32mm front & 25mm rear act bet it wont roll or flex

Ditto. It felt like the trans was welded to my seat. Lots of unwanted vibration. Used stock rubber mounts ever since.

You have to give it a few weeks to soften up. Seriously, try it.

Question

^ Since poly is a plastic, how do you expect it to "soften up"?!

It is possible it molds or deforms a bit, perhaps, but softens?!

Those who say urethane softens up....maybe....just maybe...the vibratory sensors on your butt get caloused and it just feels softer.

Believe what you want.

I have one.... WITH solid motor mounts. Its seriously not that bad at all.
Then again, I don't use band-aids when I cut my knuckles....

It does. Make theories after you have tried it.

It vibrated a lot of the car when I first put them on both of my cars. After a few weeks it goes away.

Polyurethane is prone to cold flowing, where it changes shape over time -- that is what must be meant...

Cold Flow
Definition: The distortion, deformation, or dimensional change which takes place in materials under continuous load at temperatures within the working range (cold flow is not due to heat softening). See also CREEP and COMPRESSION SET.

Funny thing about this thread, I have had about seven fourth gens and not one of them stock or modified has ever wheelhopped once..... Ever!! I don't get why people have this issue. Hard launches, soft launches, various road types and conditions. It simply never happens.

Weird

My A4 car has done it when I don't get the DR's up to speed fast enough in a burnout. That's why I always start my burnouts in first and shift up. I've learned to rip them up to speed quickly, shift and bring them up again.

A bad tranny mount will cause the whole driveline to go spastic on a hard M6 shift. I replaced mine with a stock rubber mount and it's been 100% fine since.

I used to have bad wheelhop with the worn out stock suspension and hard all season tires. Since doing Bilsteins, 1LE rear LCA bushings, and a set of Nitto 555s it either hooks or spins - no hopping.
