Default What should I do?

Somewhere in the process of me taking my transmission out and reinstalling it, I some how stripped the top bolt of the torque arm mount. I tried to re tap the hole with no luck. I was told to use a helicoil on it, but I am am worried it would weaken the tailshaft or the mounting point. I am thinking about switching over to a cross member mounted torque arm, do all of them clunk? I would hate to drop $250 on a part that's going to make me nuts. If it helps, this is a nice day car that occasionally gets autocrossed.

Hey there, I responded to your PM.

As for the questions on if they clunk, yes, they're going to make a but of a thud because the torque arm is isolated by not only the bushing, but the transmission bushing from the factory. So it's getting twice the NVH cancellation. The toque arm relocation will isolate itself with a single bushing when it has been relocated. It's better for your transmission and performance, but yes, there will be a thud associated with shifting and load.
