Default Ideal wheel setup for autocross/roadracing type suspensions

I currently have an 4th gen pontiac with an LT1/T56 that is under the knife. I have been attacking my suspension setup all winter long. I want to set the car up mainly in a autocross/road racing style. This led me to question what size and type wheels would be best for this application.

Budget for rims(this is relativly low because sticky tires are gonna be $$)
$700
With a rim budget as low as this I have been looking into some OEWheelsLLC styles. They seem reasonable as far as price and availablity. Im not stuck on this decision tho. As stated before, I am unsure what would be the best "handling" style wheel setup. Im thinking that 17"/18" and 18"/19" staggered setups would probably not be ideal for this application but, again, i dont know. I have even considered Konig Deception wheels in 18" but they only are 9" wide.

Potential Ideas?
17x9.5/17x11" ZR1's
17x9.5/18x10.5" C5DD or C5Z
18x9.5/18x10.5" C6Z or C5DD or C5Z

Any other wheel sizes/brands/styles would be considered as well. I havent researched what size tires would be best yet as I havent been informed on an ideal wheel size. But probably something like a 275 front and a 315 rear maybe. idk. Any insite would be appreciated, Thank you all for your opinions.

I have a set of Zenetti Stella 19x9/20x11 wheels that seem like they may hinder some performance lol.

Current suspension mods Include: Strano Springs, Strano Hollow Front Sway Bar, Strano Adjustable Hollow Rear Sway Bar, Jeep Bumpstops from Strano, Koni 4/3 Shocks, UMI Double Adjustable LCA's w/Roto Joints, UMI Double Adjustable Panhard Rod w/Roto Joints, UMI Adjustable Full Length Torque Arm with Custom Built Relocation Crossmember, Granatelli Subframe Connectors, Baer "claw" Track front brakes w/13" rotors, Braided Brake Lines All Around, Founders Performance STB.

I'm not sure how the market is in your area, but it my area you can get some decent OEM 'vette rims on Craigslist for really cheap. I'd say that'd be well within your budget.

If you can manage the $1400 Forgestar are much lighter than Zr1s.

17x9.5/17x11" ZR1's
17x11s on all four corners.

You can do this easily for less than $700 if going with OE Wheels.

$134.99 each

You don't want a staggered 17x9 / 17x11 setup.

If anything, they actually fit better / easier on the front than they do the back.

What he said!

I got this setup. 17x11 zr1 wheels on all 4 corners from OE wheels. I autocross and race at my local spectator drags which requires both launching and turning. There's a lot of 315/35/17 tire options too. I've been pretty successful with this setup.

Fitment requires minor fender modification. I used the frrax.com guideline thread for fitment.

I had been thinking that I've seen 315's all around but there's not much for info on this site about it. Are 17's generally preferred over 18's ? I would think that the thinner profile on the 18's would be a benefit but Idk

I am somewhat concerned that the wheels would stick out of the wheel wells a bit with a 10.5/11" wide rim in front

I'm not exactly sure why this is, but seems like more people stick with 17s all around. Especially with the heavier OE replicas. The overall combo makes for an awesome setup. Having a little more sidewall on the tire isn't a bad thing. I think it helps hold the pavement better during turns. Bigger rims you get quicker response but less give in the tire, which means you understeer faster... then vice versa with the 17s. I dont have any rollover issues with the 17s so I think that's the way to go.

Only reason I like 18s or 19 is if required by larger brakes.

If you are going to keep those brakes and not go larger I would stay stick with a 17 inch setup. 17x9.5 with 275/40-17's are going to be the most economical. Then there is also the 17x11 option people have mentioned.

If you were going to go with bigger brakes 18x9.5 on all 4 would probably be best.

Ironhead how do you like the 710s? My R6s are about up and will be needing another set soon. If I go back with hoosier I will be switching to 295 A6s all around

That thing looks tuff!! Doesnt seem to look real out of place.

I would like to have a somewhat ideal setup, but I also dont want the car to look too odd. Function over form is strong with my goals for this car but sometimes I find myself going the other route too. I do drive around on the streets from time to time. The car will only probably see 1,500 miles a year on the street max. Im gonna search for some pictures with an LT1 Trans Am with 17x11's all around
