I got the factory sized fronts 275-40-17 and 295-35-18's and I can hit the breaks fine but if I'm in the middle of a turn and need to apply some brakes from time to time while in the middle of a turn, no matter how severe the turn is OR how fast/slow I'm going, my pedal fights with me and the ABS light comes on
straight line though, should I hit the brakes hard?
Not a problem.

The front and rear wheels have speed sensors and send a speed signal back to the ABS Control unit when the control unit see's two different continous speed signals it turns on the light and deactivates the ABS system because it cannot make proper calculations when the speed signals all are not the same.

I would love it if it turned mine off it just fights me I have c6 rims so 275 18 up front and 295 19 in the rear I think lol they might both be 18's been awhile. But when I brake in a straight line the abs fights with me I also have c5 brakes up front so don't know if they would cause it too but I'm probably gonna remove the abs any ways.

I bought a 99 SS yesterday and the ABS Inop/Brake/ASR lights came on while driving the car home. I thought maybe I got something wet when I cleaned under the hood, but after calling the seller asking if it ever happened to him, he explained that since it has stock front size tires and 305/40/18 Drag radials on the back, the ABS module does not function properly. I have not noticed a difference in the braking or felt the pedal fighting me.

google "tire size calculator" and then put in the original tire size found in your door jam and then you can start plugging in different tire and rim sizes to see what the percentage of difference is. Get as close to 0 as possible
