Default Shock Strut Mount where to buy ?

I will be lowering my 26k mile car soon and was wanting to get a set of mounts, for the just in case i need them situation. I have read to go with oem or moog since others tend to not fit. I priced a set at the dealer Friday for $209 each and that is just crazy, so I was looking on auto parts warehouse and they have the moog for $70 left side and $84 right side.

I was wondering if thats the going rate or if I need to look somewhere else ?

Also if anyone has bought these are they complete or do I need anything else ?

Appreciate any help and was feeling search lazy from the triple digit heat over here that won't go away !

If you can wait a few days, ebay has them for $55 each side.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moog-K6516-F...226a7e&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOOG-K6517-S...e9075c&vxp=mtr

Buy these and if you don't end up using them, I may need them because I'm also lowering my car soon.

I ordered the moog strut mounts and still couldn't get one of the bolts to thread in when I lowered mine. It was the same one on each side so I put a smaller bolt through the hole and tightened it down. Just giving you a heads up so you don't spend hours like I did if yours don't thread in.

Rock auto is where I got mine. May want the isolators to. And the lower spring mount. Just in case you can't get the old ones apart. Although with only 26k you may get lucky.

I wanted a set on hand because I am of the school of thought I would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. You may get lucky and not need them but my luck isnt usually that way.

Damn , I just ordered the mounts and not bad on shipping either at $9.50.

Is this what your refering to for the isolators and what do they do hold the spring to the shock at the top ?
Coil Spring Insulator
MOOG Part # K6573
Front Upper
$4.81

This for holding the spring to the shock at the bottom ?
Coil Spring Seat
MOOG Part # K80927
Incl. spring pan; Front Lower
$12.24

ACDelco part numbers
501-148 (driver) $71.79 @ Rock auto
501-149 (passenger)

Which would be better Moog or A/C delco. Hesitant b/c of the threads not working.

Echos - Did you order the coil spring seat and Insulator as well? Are they necessary for install or just helpful in case situation.

Isolators are needed unless you want your shock to rip your mounts out. Although usually you can reuse your stock ones if you can get your old stuff apart. Same goes with the spring seats.

I prefer the Moogs over AC Delco because they don't use the retarded torx bolts on the driver side. Mine also fit perfectly.

^ I hate those ******* german-oriented torx bolts...trying to get them off now...do I need to dismount the brake master cylinder to get to the bolt under it? If so, do I need to get all the fluid out of the master cylinder before unbolting it from the brake booster?

Definitely not putting those torx bolts back on the car...

Unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall, pull it off the studs and push it out of the way just enough to get to the torx bolt. The brake lines flex enough to allow this and will be okay if you're careful. I then swapped one of the regular bolts with the torx so next time I could get it out that spot with an open end wrench.

Excellent thanks! Yeah I think I may just get 2 regular bolts and toss out the torx...I wonder about GM sometimes.

Would you need to order two of each (Part Number K6573 and K80927) or do they come as a set?

2 of each, then there are separate part numbers for the driver and passenger mounts, just checked my records and confirmed this from when I did mine.

MOOG Part # K6517
Front Right Upper

Coil Spring Insulator = Two of these
MOOG Part # K6573

Coil Spring Seat = Two of these
MOOG Part # K80927
Incl. spring pan; Front Lower
