Default Constant Squeak from Rear Spring or Shock

I've got a constant squak I've narrowed down to the spring or more than likely the shock on the driver's side rear. I've already replaced the swaybar endlinks and it doesn't sound like it's the rear lca's. I can replicate it easily by just pushing up or pulling down on the body from underneath the car. The shocks are blue and yellow Bilstein HD's that appear to have been installed in 2011 by the previous owner based on my paperwork. By that I mean the shocks shouldn't have more than 5k-10k miles on them. So what can I replace that might be squeaking? Are there any replaceable bushings in or around the shock or spring that I can try replacing? I've never had one off so I have no clue what the components are. I'll try to get a soundclip if it helps.

Anyone? I'd like to get this fixed asap. I don't need to replace the one shock, do I?

Here's a video, I doubt it will help but who knows.

I get some squeaking as well from my rear end... it's been that way the entire time. I don't think anything is broken or needs to be replaced... It's probably just 100% an annoyance. I haven't investigated it at all. I'll be interested to know what you find out.

From the video it sounds like rubber on metal, maybe something with the tire rubbing wheel well? Doubtful but worth a look.

Found nothing so far, I guess this weekend I'll be removing that shock and looking for worn out bushings, unless anyone has any other suggestions. I may try just squirting some white lithium grease around the shock.

I would pull the shocks and see if it still makes the noise. Also check the rubber isolators on the springs. Only takes a minute to pull them out. Are the LCA's factory or aftermarket? If aftermarket do they have grease fittings?

I actually isolated it to the bushing between the body and the nut that is inside the car/ under the rear seat-back. It wasn't very tight and I guess it isn't supposed to be, book says it's in inch pounds. when I spun the bushing the squeak changed. So I just spun it to where it didn't make noise when the rear end is pushed down and loaded it up with silicone spray. We'll see how long that lasts.

Squeak came back and I can hear more up and down shock noise. I guess I could try making sure everything is torqued correctly. What I'd really like is to ditch them for some Koni's, even though the Bilsteins are fairly new (previous owner installed).

little do a lot of people know, the f-bodys have 2 grease fittings (zerks) in the front and 4 in the back. try greasing those and see if it goes away

The shock mounts/shocks themselves are the main issue I think, and they don't have zerk fittings. I am quite the suspension newb, so I thank you for the information anyhow.

How do you like your Konis, Alchemist?

Konis are great shocks. One of the best things to do to these cars right off the bat.

When I bought my 98' TA it had koni shocks, though the car sat for a little bit, the shocks had a squeek to them but went away after the first 5k miles

I think I figured out my squeak, it's my sway bar endlinks that are squeaking. Time to replace them I think.

IMO, put a little bit of urethane bushing lube on the bushings where they contact the car body.

I found a squeak on the swaybar endlinks and swaybar bushings... believe the bushings were the real culprit though so definitely grease them up well.

I know this is an old thread but thought it would be helpful to see if the OP ever solved the squeaking issue.

I just swapped in Strano springs (on Bilstein shocks with roughly 5K miles) and have the same squeak coming from the passenger side rear. Driving me nuts!

Be sure to check your exhaust hangers/rubber for deterioration -- could be worn also making noises...

I've had squeaking for some time now. Lately it got worse and so I really got after it. I have Bilsteins with about 70k on them and found that the shock nuts had loosened. Tightened them down and it helped, but the squeak is still there. Mostly passenger side but both squeak somewhat. They still dampen fine, but the squeaks are annoying.
