Brakes acting odd
I swapped the passenger front hub assembly last week and since then, first thing in the morning, the first or sometimes second stop I make, the pedal sinks a good inch, grabs, ABS light comes on, and I have to use two feet to stop the car completely. After that first or second stop, they act fine. Im ok with it but my 105lb wife almost rear-ended another car this morning...
What does this sound like? I have all day tomorrow to mess with it...
All rotors look fine, front pads have plenty of material, and the rears are getting thin but still useable. I have not bled or had any reason to mess with fluid since purchasing the car 2yrs ago. Fluid is full. When I swapped the hub, as I slid the caliper off the rotor, I slid a 15/16 socket (i believe that was the size) in between the pads easily, hung the caliper so the line wouldnt stretch, and reversed upon installation. Again, fluid is full and no leaks whatsoever.
Throw me some ideas or what I need to check tomorrow
Thanks

Have you had the abs codes scanned? Did you replace the wheel speed sensor when you put the new hub in? Can you hear the abs pump kick in when you brake? perhaps damaged the sensor or got a piece of crap on the end. I have seen bad sensors act strangely like this, abs comes on randomly or brakes grab super hard etc, may be worth a look at the sensor, Do the brakes feel spongy or anything with the car just in park before you take it out for the first time?

I'll bleed 'em to be safe
65, replace the sensor? I plugged the harness into the back of the new hub but I didnt replace any sensor. What sound would the pump make? I do remember hearing a kind of whining sound like the fuel pump priming but didnt think anything of it.

the abs pump would make kinda of a whining/ratcheting type noise. if a sensor is cheap enough i might try that, i would definately try to get the codes read somewhere if you can, wont certain parts stores do it free for you down there, im not sure, im in canada where everything costs money.

Its a 93 so I was able to check the codes myself - nothing ABS related
I had the rotors turned, greased the sliding cylinder things, put dielectric grease on the speed sensor connectors, and topped off the fluid. Braking is so much better! The fluid looked like chocolate milk so tomorrow's plan is to drain and flush the entire system

Yes, I tried numerous times and have not been able to reproduce the stopping issue so Im guessing it had to be the front driver side sliding pins - they were stuck (not siezed) pretty good
I havent had time to flush the milkshake fluid but the car is up on jack stands so thats first on the agenda tomorrow
