hi i have an 02 ss and i need a new steering rack for it. do 6 cylinder racks interchange? i've done a search and found that most companys only sell one rack for my car regardless of engine.
i can get a 98 6 cylinder rack for free but dont want to have to deal with swappin a bunch of parts to make it work and have a different steering rate.
thanks

Input shaft should be the same (unless there are some year to year variations). You should also look at your RPO codes, as the V8 cars came with different racks. there was a FE2 and FE4 and a F41. if you have an F41, if I can remember correctly, that was the same angle as a V6. If you have or plan to have LT headers then the v6 rack wont work due to the angle.
You might be able to hold the v6 rack up to see how the angle is.

Also, as has been posted on here before, good luck getting the drivers side bolt out. best bet would be to cut it and get a new one and install it with the nut on top of the rack. Otherwise you will probably have to remove accessories or loosen the motor from the mounts and jack it up.
