Default new shocks?

My car has a little over 50K miles and i need to get rid of my shitty blown decarbons. Looking for the best budget shocks out there.

I know most are going to say bilstein's but looking for something under $300.
Heard alot of good about Stagg shocks for BMW's and Lexus forums but everything for LS1says they are garbage.

Looking at possibly the KYB GR2's, have seen sets of them for around $220 to my door. Anyone running these an if so what do ya think??

Thanks

Here's my take:

I have KYB GR2 shocks on my car currently. Better than stock decrapons for sure, but they aren't stellar. Might last you another 50k before feeling like garbage again. But they are cheap and that's why I got them at the time. My stock shocks had like 120k on them so they were beyond shot, but I had no job and little money. They did the job. I'm replacing them with Bilsteins this year.

I don't know much about the Staggs but I've seen reports of some bad failures on some of those other cars. QC is questionable. At least with the GR2 they are made by a brand that is reputable.

The HD and SLP Bilsteins are basically the same now.

UMI and MWC are now selling a new line of shocks. Check their sites out. They are called Viking.

Check out the ws6store, they are site vendor. They can get very close to your
price goal on a set of Bilsteins HD's. You will be much happier with the Bilsteins.
They are the best bang for your buck, and will out last the ones your looking for.

Sparky- thanks for the valuable input, much appreciated. how long have you have the KYB's? and whats their condition as of now with the miles put on them?

NeedFun-- Thanks, I'll check them out for sure, any word on their performance or longevity?? Did a couple searches but didnt find too many people running them..probably becaue their new

Fred-- the bilstiens are like $370 think they'll work with my price to get it down that much? The KYB's are only $230. If i could get the bilstiens under $100 difference I'd go with them for sure.

Get bilstiens and install them yourself. That would save you a lot of cash. The rears are simple. Fronts are tougher, but still doable in a few hours.

KYB's are trash! You will be replacing them in 6 months. Wait a little long
intel you have the $70 more to use on the bilstiens. You will thank me later lol.
Give them a call and see what they can do, what's the worst thing that could
happen? plus they have free shipping.

I'm in the same boat. Found this thread by doing a little searching. Does anyone know if there are any coupons for the WS6Store online or do they have sales from time to time or is it a what you see is what you get there?

okey guys thanks for all the input. I'll just save the mula an get some bilstiens.

But really whats the difference between the HD's and the SLP version? They are different prices, so just curious if one is better for specific applications.

What I've been told is there is no longer a difference.

they are the same . The difference is in the packaging, SLP opens the box, places their warranty card (and a SLP sticker or 2) inside and re-seals with SLP box tape.
The shock itself is the same HD or SLP.

Back in the day the slp bilstiens where 10% softer in the valving. But they
soon realized the hd valving worked better, so there all the same now.
One just has a slp sticker to go with it. lol 60 more bucks is a small price
to be in a different league. You'll be happy you waited and went with bilstiens.
You might also give sam strano a call, he has some really prices too.
