Default Replace Bilsteins with Konis?

Hi everyone,

Let me first start with some background:
I currently have BMR springs all around, Bilstein shocks in the rear, and Autozone shocks in the front.

The Autozone shocks have to go and I would like to replace them with Konis, but then it comes down to, should I keep the Bilsteins in the rear or swap those to Konis too?

(I literally installed the new Bilsteins 2 weeks ago, so I can easily take em off and sell them on here).

Bmr lowering springs...yes go with all koni. Otherwise a full bilstein setup is just as good and cost less

Being that the Bilsteins are new, I would just get some Bilsteins up front too.

Put the Konis on the front and see how you like the setup. If you feel that the difference in their compression/rebound rates differ too widely, then get Konis for rear. I personally run Koni/Bilstein f/r on my A4 car, and although I can tell that rebound is not as quick in the rear, it works fine for my driving conditions. But I'm on stock springs.

Since all these sales are going on I might just take advantage of them and buy konis all around.
I know people would easily buy some basically brand new bilsteins for a bit cheaper

It'd be cheaper to get the other two bilsteins...but if you want the best go with koni. I love mine.

Yeah I agree, it would be much cheaper to get another set of Bilsteins, but I personally would rather just get the best of the best instead of regret it down the road at this point.

I would just buy 2 front Bilstein's and call it a day. If you didn't already have the rear Bilstein's I would say get Koni's.

Yeah the price difference is quite appealing with going just with 2 new Bilstein's.
We will see where I am next month regarding cash flow and if I'm not up for it, I'll be getting 2 new Bilsteins haha..

As much as I, too, like to buy "the best", whenever possible, you need to ask yourself how you drive the car. Do you drive it HARD, maybe autocross it, or is it more of a "cruiser" that gets leaned on only once in a while. If you're "on it" all the time, by all means, get 4 Konis. If it's more a cruiser, get Bilsteins for the front, and call it a day.

Yeah, to be honest I baby it quite a bit, I do not autocross and only hit the dragstrip 3-5 times a year.

I do find it to be more of a cruiser... ah decisions decisions... haha.

IMO, sounds to me like Bilsteins up front is the way for you to go. I think you'll be perfectly happy with them.

Not really....BMRs and Bilsteins will do you well. I had an Eibach/OE shock set up on my '96 Z-28 for about 3 years. When I first put the Eibach springs on it, I figured since the OE shocks had only 3-4 thousand miles on them, they should be OK to use for a while. It was OK, but not great.

I then put a set of the SLP re-valved Bilsteins on it, and ran that for about 10 years. It was noticeably better than the first set-up. 3 years ago, I was itching for something to do, and I installed a Strano/Koni set up on it. Much improved, but not "night and day" compared to the previous set up. Therefore, I think you'll be satisfied with just new Bilsteins on the front, especially considering what's there now......
