Default 02 TA WS6 - Placing 427 LSX Bowtie, what suspension mods needed?

Hello all I am putting a 427 LSX iron Bowtie block with AFR 225 heads in my 02 WS6 TA and I am wondering what I need to do to the front suspension to take this monster?

The front suspension is stock with stock springs and shocks, shocks I can replace but do I need to replace the springs?

The car is not lowered and I didnt have any thoughts of lowering it but will entertain if needed.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Adding the 150 lbs is nothing, that's 75lbs per front spring, rated at like 300lbs per inch, so it'll drop 1/4 inch. No worries.

Before anybody can make any real recommendations to you we need to know what your plans are with the car and what kind of driving you are going to be doing with it? Get us some more info and I would be more than happy to throw out some recommendations.

Your front end is now just as heavy as any LT1 front end and we don't use any different parts than the LS guys.

Car is slated to be a road car that will be on the strip every now and then.

Current setup includes a ford 9",4:10 gears, 35 spline moser axels, chromoly torque arm, chromoly rear adjustable lower control arms, chromoly sub frame connectors, koni sa rear shocks. Lsx 427 all forged motor, will be supercharged as well.

Front end is mostly stock, I want the car to handle the road but be able to drag on demand. This car is not a daily driver.

Car also is an M6 with a spec twin disk clutch, tick master cylinder and line locks.

Really depends on what you mean by "handle the road". Are you looking for stock like handling (crap IMO) or more sport car type of handling?
Being able to "drag on demand" has more to do with rear tires than anything else, you can certainly get traction with a setup completely geared toward handling, you just won't have the weight transfer like a drag setup. You can take a car made for handling to a drag strip and do just fine, but you won't be able to "do just fine" with a drag setup in any kind of real handling situation.

Definitely not looking for stock handling as I agree it is horrible. I would like sporty handling and that is what I am looking for.

The front suspension has never been touched because I didn't want to dive into it until I was sure about direction and now I am.

I welcome your suggestions!

Thanks!

IMO make sure you have a tublar torque arm and sub frame connectors before touching your springs/shocks. Only then, would I get a new pair of shocks.

To me it sounds like you are worried about street first and drag strip second. If this is the case I would look at the Koni front sa shocks since they will compliment the Koni rear shocks you already have. I would also recommend throwing on a good set of sway bars like our BMR sway bar package (SBP001) since you don't have any plans for lowering the car. These parts will work fine with the factory springs and will be a large improvement over the factory stuff you have right now.

If you are looking to get rid of some of the weight you gained by adding the LSX motor you can look into a tubular k-member (KM003) and lower a-arms (AA002) but the springs and sway bars are more important IMHO.
