Default Vibration when coming to a stop

I have a 2002 TA with 17" Konig rims, with BFG G-Force T/A KDW 275/40 ZR-17 tires. The cars runs great except for when I want to come to a stop, fast or slow. There is a vibration similar to warped rotors, but on ly 9,000 miles on the car. Pontiac claims it is the wider tire and rim setup. The vibration is actually a shaking in the wheel. Also as the car comes to a stop 5 miles an hour or slower I get a good feeling of warped rotors, but with 9,000 miles? Also, does anyone have this issue. A clunking noise when I go over cracks in the asphalt. It makes the noise when the rear wheels hit the cracks. The only thing I have found "loose" is the fuel filter has some room to move around. Thanks for all the help! Troy Gabazon@cableone.net

Rotors! My first set went out @10,000 mi. I went through two sets of stock OEM rotors. Each set lasted from 5,000 to 15,000 mi. I now have amicos (sp?) from Autozone. I have about 18,000 mi on them so far, and no problems. You'd think with all the rotor problems 4th gens have, GM would have recalled them or at least released an ESB. Go figure!

You can take a car with 0 miles out of the dealership and have the rotors warped in less than 30 seconds. They are always vulnerable, no matter if they have few miles. I second that it's probably warped rotors. Looked in the Sponsor Section, i think there is a full set of drilled and slotted rotors for sale for $285.

My rotors warped after about 10,000.. I took it back to the dealer ship and they put a new set on with no problem.

Its probably warped rotors.

I gotta say that if you guys aren't racing (autoX or drag) then you are pretty abusive with your brakes. I have 32,000 miles on my stock rotors (new pads though). There is only a hint that they are not perfectly true anymore.

Not necessarily abuse. I'm VERY easy on brakes and even so I started to feel the dreaded warped rotor shudder with just over 5000 miles on the car. Some may not feel it until higher mileage, but my butt-o-meter is very sensitive to warped rotors having spent several years with a 1995 Grand Am

It seems to be a common GM problem over the last 5-10 years, but is somewhat luck of the draw too. Some of my GM's have the problem and some have 50k miles on unturned stock rotors. Go figure.

Default Warped rotors.

I am not hard on the car at all. The 9,000 miles are all in town and some highway. Thanks for the ideas, any ideas on the noise from under the car? Thanks! Troy

I warped my stock rotors, with stock pads. And, yes, I autocross.

I swapped to Brembo OEM's and race pads (at $159 for front pads alone) and have not warped a rotor since and I am much harder on them now than I ever was on the stock ones. There are differences in rotors, at least as far as casting quality.

I like to lay on my brakes just as hard as I lay on the throttle. I need to upgrade before my rotors warp. Ive found the rotors I want, now just for the pads.
