If you move up to 18x10.5 c5z and run 315's wheels for racing you need longer studs and spacers or else the wheels will hit the front spindle. You could also get specific offset 18's and not need a spacer. IMO I would toss in longer ARP studs just in case you go to a wider wheel later.

Again if you keep with OEM 17" wheels and 275's no spacers or studs needed.

This adapter and hub is a bolt on affair. With simply swapping over a ABS connector.

Gotcha.

I have longer ARP studs on my stock hubs right now, I'm assuming I can swap them over to the C5 SKF hub?

This.

The adapters with the C5 hubs will not change or move the hub location in relation to the spindle/brakes/etc... It will have no effect on the wheel offset. If you needed long studs and spacers before the adapters, you will need the same longer studs and spacers after the adapters.

Chris,
Yes you can swap over the ARP studs in your f-body hubs to the new C5 hubs if you want to. Some places will sell the c5 SKF hubs with longer ARP studs already installed for you; if I needed longer studs that's the route that I'd be taking.

Just got back from LSfest West that happened this last weekend. Hubs did great! No issues with pad knock back that I have experienced in the past. I haven't gotten a chance to inspect the adapters yet but will check them out some time later this week.

Also worth mentioning...I'm sure you could run regular OEM c5 hubs (not the XTrackers) for substantially less money and get decent life out of them.

IMO it's the large distance of the Fbody hubs from the spindle mount surface to the wheel mount surface (almost twice that of a c5 hub design) that makes them fail.

So running a base c5 hub with a shortened mounting faces with Jim adapters could also be a viable option. Xtrackers are in the $700+ range alone.

I have adapters and Xtrackers, but IF at some point the Xtrackers wear out/break (and they are not covered under any manufacturer warranty) I would try some base c5 hubs to get up and running again. There have been plenty of people reporting years of perfect operation with real sticky 315's and no issues. I run 315's but find cheap used tires with prob half the mechanical grip as if they were new.

I might actually do that smitty, as I could get a set of new C5 hubs for next to nothing. I do have plans to road race in the future, but from what it sounds like the stock C5 hub will do more than fine, especially in comparison to stock F-body hubs.

Hmm, Timken C5 wheel bearings are $150 on amazon FWIW. That's two wheels bearings for cheaper than one X-Tracker!

Definitely going this route as my car is a street car currently. When I do start tracking it, I'm sure i'll still get some life out of these before needing a race bearing.

Prices for reference.

Jim's C5 Hub Adapters : $475
Timken C5 Wheel bearings: $150/ea
Timken F-Body Wheel bearings: $120/ea
SKF X-Tracker C5 Wheel bearings : $350/ea

You dont even have to buy front c5 base hubs either rears will fit as well and they are $40 cheaper.

Do the base C5 rear hubs come with the ABS sensors as well?

Yes, the ABS sensor/harness is all built into the assembly.

When I looked on amazon, the front and rear price difference was only 4 bucks, plus I was reading some information about how it specifically states in the owners manual not to exchange front and rear hubs even though they are interchangeable, because the rear hubs apparently rely on the axle to hold it together.

Man I wish I saw this before I bought my Moog hubs. We'll see how they do and whether Moog stands behind their 3 year warranty.

The fastest thing that will kill the Fbody hubs are real sticky 315's. If you run street tires you will be fine for a while, even 275 slicks may last a while I bet.

I took the safe route and went SKF even though I'm on OLD used hoosiers which have MAYBE half the grip of new ones.

They will. I was burning through a set of MOOG's every 2 months, didn't mind since they were under warranty but now it's so nice not to worry about hubs with the new adapters!

Just getting my feet wet this year with some open track days, maybe some events later in the season. Just going to have a 265-275 summer tire on it for right now. If I get another set of rims I'll probably get a set of sticky track tires so I can swap

Digging up old thread...does anyone have a pair of these hub adapters for sale?
Everyone who has manufactured them in the past no longer have any in stock.

Detroit Speed X-tracker hub kit is what you can get, they are $995. I bought mine at Summit when they had $100 off $1000 sale, Strano sells them as well.
