Default CTS-V brakes with 17 inch rims "Pics"

Having read and read and trying to decide what to do to stop this car I talked with my mechanic friend and showed him some threads on here about CTS-V brakes and he said he could make it work with 17 inch rims.

Calipers are the 4 piston CTS-V and the rotors are the 13.4 inch Z06 rotors. We had to use 3/4 inch spacers to get enough room but I think they turned out nice and even though I haven't had a chance to really try them out they felt great on the way home.

Here are the pics and I apologize for the quality, it was raining when I took them a few minutes ago.

They are about even now with the quarter panels, which is honestly the only the only thing I am not happy about with all of this. It really doesn't look bad but since I know how it looked before I can tell, if that makes sense. I do not have any pics but can get some tomorrow if you'd like to see.

13.4" rotors? Did you get a custom caliper bracket?

No. The only thing that was installed was the calipers, rotors, brake pads and wheel spacers.

When I get around to it I will make sure I post it up. Right now though the car is in pieces as I am going from the front to the back redoing everything.

Wow great to see these fitting under 17" wheels even with a spacer.

How much room do you have between the caliper and the wheel barrel?

Not much, a few millimeters. Unless something dramatic happens it won't be an issue though.

On a side note I took it out today since it was the first non rain day in a while and tested the set up out a little and from about 55 mph I got into the brakes pretty hard and it about threw me through the front window. I wasn't expecting that much clamping force but it made a huge difference in how quickly I can come to a stop.

Is that the LS caliper on there in the first pic?

What pads were you using before & after?

First pic is stock Camaro calipers. The pads were Hawk pads but not sure which ones, I bought he car with them on already.

The pads I am using now are the stock CTS-V pads.

Hey, thanks for putting this together! I went home, looked at where my wheels sit in the wheel well and decided to give this a crack. One thing to note, you said you used Z06 rotors. I almost accidentally ordered the wrong rotors on RockAuto because I searched by vehicle and not P/N. The P/N for the 13.4" rotor is 89060328... I almost accidentally ordered the 14" rotors.

What did you do for a brake line? I haven't gotten into it yet as I just ordered parts, but do you have braided brake lines already or did you just bolt on the stock lines?

I just used the stock lines. Only parts used were calipers, padd, rotors and spacers.

Freaking awesome, thanks! That would put me around $600 for this set-up, as I already have a set of 1" wheel adapters. Not bad for a nice brake upgrade!
