Default low profile tire pulls 4th gen all over the road

Is it a common issue that 4th gens pull bad on uneven pavement or the rut in the road if the alignment is off? 1998 Camaro V6 with 275-35/18 tires all the way around pulls really bad on the road, like the alignment is off bad. My 2002 pulls too, just not as bad as this 1998 does.

Oh yeah those puppies love to follow the road. An alignment never hurts. But it's a minor detail you'll definitely get used to.

If it's all in the tires, how do newer Vette's and Camaro's get away with selling cars that pull all over the road. I just didn't know if it was a quirk of these cars. I'm going to take it to get it aligned anyway and hopefully it'll help.

It's the tires. It doesn't happen often, just on real bad, rutted roads. Wider the tires the more it tramlines. Good alignment might help, but if it's that big of an issue, just avoid the bad roads.

I can handle it just fine, but the car is my wife's and she's nothing like me and, well, let's just say she doesn't drive like I do.

Are the tires new? I had some front tires that went bad during winter storage. Started pulling to one side and wandering. Alignment guy found the problem. New tires and all was good again

I have 275s on my car and it doesn't pull all over. You'll always get some pull on crappy rutted roads, but if the roads are generally in decent shape but it is still pulling bad IMO you either have a crappy alignment or a bunch of stuff worn in the front allowing it to pull. My 99 has all new bushings and joints up front as of a couple years ago and the pull is pretty minor unless there is a major rut or crease in the road.

I just mounted a set of used Michelin run flats on two of them and put them on the front since they looked the best. My 02 wanders some but this is ridiculous on the 98. Dropping it off tomorrow to have the suspension checked out and a 4 wheel alignment. We just got it running recently. The 98 sat for 7 years and then was bought for $600. We put a gas tank in it out of a 96 Z28 and a brand new Delphi fuel pump and here we are.

Let's regroup here......You put "run flats", with VERY stiff sidewalls on the front of your car, and regular tires, with much softer sidewalls, on the rear?

If so, although alignment might be part of your problem, I think "the tail is wagging the dog". In other words, the REAR of the car is wandering, due to the mis-match in the tire's construction.

Just my $0.02 worth.......

The car ended up having a bad tie rod end. Fixed that and had it aligned and that pretty well took care of it.

In the middle of doing some brake upgrades I inspected my tie rods and they're junk. Probably my problem as well.

Having this same issue on my 02 SS. I looked at the control arm bushings and they looked OK. My next best guess was the PS rack so I asked around alittle. the car only has 79xxx miles on it so it seems alittle early to lose the PS rack to me. Tires are brand new 275/40-17 BFG GForce on the front.
