Fbody OEM/Strange Brake Experts HELP Me Out
2000 Camaro 99% Drag Car
Stock front brakes (15” Skinnies Up Front )
Stock rear brakes (Ground Calipers to fit 15” Drag Lites) on S60 Rear End
SMJ Front Line Lock With Wilwood proportional Valve (never could see and change with adjustment)
I just installed Strange Manual Master Cylinder (removed OEM and Booster)
I was just reading that manual master cylinder is not a good idea with stock brakes.
It looks like the OEM is more front brake than back, with large brakes on front and single piston small brakes on back. Maybe because they are accommodating for parking brake in back.
Should I now get a new brake set up and if so, what will fit without grinding new calipers?
What to do??????? Leave it OEM or make a change??????
I was checking out the Strange Kits.
Non-Slotted Rear Brake Kit Part#: STR-B6718WC
Each Rear Kit includes: Strange 4-piston Billet directional calipers, forged steel rotors, soft pads, Billet Aluminum mounts and necessary mounting hardware.
Slotted Rear Brake Kit Part#: STR-B1718WC
Each Rear Kit includes: Strange 4-piston Billet directional calipers, forged slotted steel rotors, soft pads, Billet Aluminum mounts and necessary mounting hardware.
• Pro Series 2 Upgrade Kit Part#: STR-B1718WC2
Upgrades include:. Unique floating steel rotor design allows for axial and radial growth of rotor as temperature increases, which greatly reduces warping and coning tendencies
• Prolonged rotor and pad life
• Fully machined forged 2014 aluminum hat
• Lightweight construction rear rotor weight is 6.5 lbs.
Note: Bearing Spacer Kit may be necessary.

Thank You,,,,,,, They really look good.
As I read thru all the posts, I am coming up with............
It is not a good idea to go manual master cylinder with stock brakes.
Not really clear why?
I have not read where anyone replaced/upgraded brakes for better braking or even achieved better brakes.
They just wanted the weight saving.
I have even read "They do not stop as good as stock but I removed 15lbs."
I would only change all the other items for better brakes, not lighter.
The MC was kind of an impulse buy. I started reading after I bought/installed it. Now I am second guessing and looking for this feed back from the ones that have been there - done that.
I only went manual MC to keep the car from creeping at the starting line when you get the long tree. That is not all that often.

**** the strange brakes bite like a ******.....especially when cold. Ive thrown myself into the steering wheel a few times on accident . The general consensus is they stop the same as stock but so far ive been really impressed with them.
