this! found out mine had been loose for nearly 10 years. had huge slop. tightened bolt and it got 90% better.(this was 10 months before i replaced the rack)
replaceing the rack and ends fixed the rest. feels reeeeeally good now.

i went with autozone parts. dont waste your money on Turnone or other big names. they just replace the orings, boots, and polish the shafts like every other reman unit.

Question for all you guys who replaced their racks-I replaced just about the entire steering system including a rebuilt rack from AC Delco, and I still have a small amount of play coming from the rack. If I have a friend turn the wheel back and forth a few degrees, I can watch the input to the rack turn but the tie rods don't budge.

Has anyone else had this experience or is it just a fluke? I am going to buy another on just don't if there is any company out there that does a more scrupulous check of the condition of the rack and pinion gears.

As said, make sure your two bolts are really tight on your intermediate shaft

Send your rack to Turn One for a rebuild and Dyno. You dont know what your getting from Pboys or any other parts chain. Find some Moog ends. I replaced every single moving part in my front suspension. You have to rebuild the FE with high milage cars. Dont forget your spindles. Mine went at 125K.
