KYB adjustable shocks
KYB adjustable shocks Ok guys I own a 2001 Camaro SS, lowered about 1.5" in rear and 1" in front with BMR coils and front had KYB adjustable shocks and rear had stock shocks but bolt stripped out so I replaced the back stock shocks with matching KYB adjustable for rear. Anyways, Here's the deal with my car. I replaced stock LCAs with adjustable LCAs and relocation brackets then I put a new Panhard bar on. I've got everything adjusted but I believe my shocks are bottoming out for some reason no matter what setting I put the shocks on. Every bump I hit its like I have no shocks and its a loud thud, could this be because the KYB shocks I have are not made for lowered cars? I checked everything and nothing is hitting either. I'm lost now lol Any suggestions? Thanks guys
I've only heard that are not the best to begin with, and if they have some miles on them then it becomes no real surprise.

If your new lca's have a poly bushing it can transfer more nvh. If they have rod ends they will transfer more nvh
Double check and make sure you have everything tight also.

See I have heard people liking them on here. But then again maybe they are not as good as ive heard. No I have not. I ment to take my 94 there but never got to it.
Yes everything is tight. They are spherical pivoting rod ends. stupid question but what does NVH stand for? No I did not bleed shocks, didn't known had to?

You're feeling what rod ends do. They make a car harsh.
If a shock is laying down or upside down the oil can drain out of the chamber it's supposed to be in and make the shock ineffective. They usually bleed themselves out but if it was your first ride it may/could feel like they aren't doin much.

Should I go with different kind of rod ends? I cant stand this noise I feel like the car is going to fall apart or blow up lol I drove it to work this morning and I heard that thump ovee my radio. Or is there no way around it? Maybe could it be everything isnt aligned right as well bc I now notice a lil thump when I only put it in first gear while parked. Verdad Gallardo The shocks will likely bleed themself. But i always stand the shock up and cycle it before i put them on to be sure.
About the only way to get rid of the harshness of the rod end is to replace it with these. You only need to do one end of your lca. I like doin the body side best.

Any rod end like that will be harsh. Get those ridetech bushings and install them to the body side of ypur lca.

Since you have lowering springs, I'd suggest changing over to Koni STR.t's. They are made for lowered cars. I went from stock springs and KYB adjustables to Strano springs and Koni Str'ts, and what a wonderful difference. No bottoming out at all.
Ok so you were right, I was just curious and did this for ***** and giggles, what I did was I put my stock lower control arms back on (since obviously they have bushings on them), I took it for a ride and the noise is gone!!!!!!! I will buy two of those rod ends for now and put them on body end and go from there! Stupid question thread size the same for all LCAs? I can take a thread gauge to these rod ends and figure it out but was wondering if you knew. I believe they are Spohn LCAs, but I am not sure since I bought them from a member on here.

Your're welcome. I will report back, I order those rod ends and they should be here tomorrow. So once I install them I will report back and hopefully close the case on this issue lol
Out of curiosity, who sold you on those rod ends? That's pretty hardcore S for a daily driver.
This is exactly why we offer our combination arms with poly on one end and rod end on the other. Rod ends tend to be a little harsh and noisy for most people's liking on a daily driver. AS for the rubber ends posted above, those look like a good option for those with existing rod end lca's. I know our arms use a standard 3/4 x 3/4" rod end, so those will work in conjunction with ours.

Im not gonna mention the member but he was on here amd he helped me out a lot since we had a big issue getting parts I needed for the lcas to work. He had only four bushings that went with the control arms bc his ford 9" didnt need the bushings so he helped me out in finding some. I should of known also bc he said he used them on the track with only 50 passes on them. I guess I wasnt knowledgeable enough to know I needed the poly bushings for a smoother ride.
