Default control arm & bushing difference for SS model ?

I'm looking at rockauto and for FRONT UPPER control arms they list a set by Ultra-Power with "SS model" noted, but for 2 others by dorman and mevotech they just say front left upper or front right upper.
does anyone know if there is a difference, if so then what's the significance?

I've never seen another aftermarket provider list the control arms as being SS specific but then this brand seems to be the sub basement of bargain parts so who knows. Probably easier to just source a stock one someone pulled off in the parts section after they switched to something like UMI.

What is wrong with your stock upper arms? Those were easy to replace bushings, clean, and paint up.

I agree.

Too much questionable "inexpensive" stuff hitting the market, IMHO.....

No there is not a difference. But you won't get a lot of love for the mevotech stuff on here. Just get the moog bushings and ball joints and swap them in.

car is 14 yrs old i already replaced sagging rear bilstein springs, considering replacing front springs this winter, and get new tires. if i'm doing front springs and shocks i'm contemplating all the other high wear stuff and a whole new control arm with bushings and ball joint installed is atractive. i was not impressed with rockauto pricing for just bushings, seemed like it was 80% the price of a new control arm.

That's because the moog stuff is awesome, I don't think I've ever heard someone recommend the mevotech parts.

Never used this Mevotech stuff. But I replaced my bushings on my upper and lower arms as well as ball joints using Moog stuff. I could not be happier. Honestly, I would not take the chance. Stock arms are pretty good, especially the lower A-Arms. Seriously, I would just replace the bushings. It's cake on the upper A-Arms. Just need to rent the tool from your local auto parts store.

Granted, to replace the upper ball joints on the upper arms, I needed to grind it off with the Dremel but that was the most difficult part of it. And it was not that difficult at all honestly.

In this case moog is going to be as good if not better than OEM. I'm running moog in my uppers which are the only stock control arm left on the car. Part numbers:

Moog K6462 Upper Ball Joints x 2
Moog K6145T Lower Ball Joints x 2
Moog K6689 Front Upper Control Arm Bushings x 2
Moog K6490 Front Lower Control Arm Bushings x 2
Moog ES3238RL Tie Rod Ends x 2
