Default What spring for strange s5271

i plan on buying strange single adj s5271 coilover it requires a 14" length 2.5" 300# spring. I read some old threads from back in 2011 that suggested a hyperco 1814b0300. (65$ each) Just wondering if that's what I should get or if there's another new better option out?

That is the most common starting point is the 300# springs for the front. It also usually works fine on a full weight car. Sometimes springs have to be swapped for a lighter one but that is all part of tuning a suspension. Here is some additional information that might be helpful.

I'm sure this is a dumb question but is there a preferred brand for that size spring, I see strange has the sp14300a spring or would the recomemeded hyperco 1814b0300 be better?

The SP14300a is a Hypercoil spring sold by Strange. Hypercoil is an excellent spring.

Spring rate is determined by many different aspects, sure one can say this will work but vehicle specs need to be known as well as vehicle goals. As for Hypercoil springs they are a great spring choice.

Strange, Hyperco or Viking part number 14DP300 would be a good option as well. They are also a little cheaper at $45 each. These are my springs of choice usually

If you're planning on purchasing shocks and springs for the "drag race" type setup, it uses the standard stock style stud upper mount and a 2.5" ID coil-over type spring. The Hypercoil springs are amongst the best on the market but there are other alternatives out there that will serve the purpose just fine and are a bit less cost.

MWC offers a great conversion for this exact purpose to eliminate the factory upper shock mount, which are commonly worn and sometimes even broken. The cost of the conversion is much less than replacement oem type mounts and the job is much easier not having to remove the mount from the shock, which requires a heavy duty spring compressor. You end up with a lighter, stronger setup that eliminates the bind from stud type shock, and a much easier install.

Give us a call we will be glad to help you with the right package for your needs and budget. Best parts, prices, and customer service all at MWC!
