Default Torque arm ?

This is a bit silly, but Ive been prepping to drop my motor tomorrow, and did all of the unbolting/detaching today. According to all of the writeups I've read the torque arm is supposed to want to swing upwards when you unbolt the clamshell. Why is that? I would have thought that the lcas and phb would prevent the diff from rotating.

also, when I unbolted mine the arm stayed right in the clamshell. Is this because I still have the rear wheels on the ground?

The pressure from the springs on the rearward side of the housing, with the lca connecting point on the housing being the pivot point, will rotate the torque arm up. Yes, having the rear wheels on the ground is keeping the springs compressed preventing the housing to rotate.
