2000 SS Brake Rotor Recommendations
I am down here in south Texas and live about a 1/2 from the beach. To top it off, my Camaro sits outside rather in a garage
My rotors are rusted and look like complete crapola so I figured it is time for a change.
What would you fellas recommend for a good set of front and rear rotors that will last?
Thanks!

It is just surface rust as far as I can tell. I am considering spending a little more to get a set of coated rotors with the hopes they last a little longer in the looks department.
I will be replacing the front and rear wheel bearings for preventative maintenance and figured why not replace the rotors while I am at it.
Thanks

This is basically the only rotor/pad kit I will ever buy. http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...=191&ModelID=7
I've used many different brands over the past 14 years. Auto parts store rotors would almost always warp. Stopping power was only ok at best.
The pad and rotor kit from Strano however for the street is by far the best I have used and seems to take the most abuse. I have yet to warp on of these rotor too.
I also drive in Atlanta traffic daily.
You can easily use painters tap, mask off and paint any rotor really.

Those are great rotors despite the plain box. But they are not coated or painted. However, I do have rotors that are like the Stoptech and EBC's. Note that there are cheaper Stoptechs than the slotted ones I show on my site. Typically I prefer the Best rotors for durability, but if you want a painted/coated rotor for less than the slotted, I can do that. Just have to ask.

Acutally, I went and looked again. The really lower end Stoptech exist for the Corvette but not the Camaro. I have the High Carbon rotors but htey run just a little over $280 a set. http://www.centricparts.com/products/hcr
I have zinc plated rotors too, but not that cheap because we don't use the cheapo rotors to start with. If you think about it, someone is taking 4 rotors. Then taking the time to slot or dimple, or drill them. And then coating them (BTW, Zinc has some cost to it because it's hazardous to deal with) and still selling for less than $50 a rotor. That is not a high end rotor to start with.

The Best Brake package is probably the best replacement rotors you can do.
I actually have Brakemotive on the car now with Hawk HPS. It does fine with that. I am in a very humid, salty environment as well and very little surface rust with that. But the car is in the garage most of the time.
