Default AFCO rear coilover springs

What size and spring rate are people runing? Converting mine to the coilover setup .

What application? Street, Street/Strip, Street handling, Auto-X??

How you use the car determines your question.

As mentioned what application is this for such as road racing, auto crossing, drag racing and any weight modifications will help determine spring rates.

It's a stree/strip car, but more track than street. And for weight it's close to stock but going to be gutted with no AC ect.

A good starting point would be 300lb - 350lb front and 110lb - 125lb rear.

The 350/125 would be more street oriented if your looking to keep some handling characteristics.

The 300/110 would be track oriented and not a great set-up if you street the car any amount of time.

What would be wrong with 300/110 for the street? That is basically stock spring rates, and still stiffer in front than v6 springs.

On a high powered radial car I will go somewhere around a 125. Street cars I tend to stick around a 150 rate. A lot depends on race weight, desired ride height, and suspension geometry setup

So I see there is Some different setups I could go with as far as rates but what about the size of the spring, 10",12",14"?

That is determined by the rate of the spring you choose and what ride height you are wanting on your car.

If you give me a call here at the shop I can give you some specific info.

We have installed the Viking and Afco coil-overs on our 4th Gen. with all the different spring rates/Heights and gathered data such as exact ride height range with a particular spring and where the perch nut will be at that particular ride height on the shock, How close you will be to riding on the bump stops with a particular shock/spring package at all the ride heights in the range...etc

We have come to find out that some of the shocks in these kits aren't the best suited shocks when it comes to getting specific with shocks/springs/ride heights.

We did a lot of research and spent a considerable amount of time on this so that we can offer our customers what we feel is 100% The best possible coil-over combination when it comes to each individual set-up with the spring rate chosen and where the customer would like the ride height to be.

I run 250 up front and 125 on the rear. Street strip car.
