Default Power Steering Issues.

I am having the same old PS fluid leaking out of the cap issue. I changed my power steering pump to a Turn 1, I swapped all hoses and added a cooler in front of the radiator, and even installed a new rack from the Rack Dr. I am running some nice sticky 315/30/18 rival-s tires, but I thought going with the turn 1 would solve this. I thought the PS fluid cooler was almost overkill but I still have fluid all over the cap area and on the front of the reservoir after every long or hard driving event. The cooler is fairly small as in maybe 4"x12" but maybe I need to get a small fan or something mounted to it? I am also using royal purple fluid if that matters as well.

I'm running a Turn One + cooler and 315s, top of my oil resivour is always dirty but it's not spewing fluid or anything. I'd assume this is normal.

Sounds about right. Don't get me wrong it's not spewing fluid and its not a lot of fluid, but it was enough to have the turn one sticker fall off after a week of normal use. It leaks out the top about as much as the stock one did. I replaced the stock one under the impression that the leaking was bad and I was going to fail eventually as it slowly leaked more and more out the top.

I'll keep my an eye on this, mine is doing this also. I just added a cooler mounted to the A/C condenser and once I get my suspension back in I'm hoping no more spewing fluid.

Some misting out of the cap is normal. The reservoir is only designed to hold 20psi of pressure before the cap vents. As the fluid heats up, it expands and creates pressure which exits through the vent in the cap. Some fluid will escape with it.

Thanks,
Junior

What's the fluid level on the PS reservoir cap? When I bought the Turn One pump many (10?) years ago, I learned that if I fill until the "COLD" mark, it's too much and fluid will escape the reservoir. If I keep it between "ADD" and "COLD", no such issues.

Hello,

BenZ28, you are correct. Depending on your application, the fluid level may need to be adjusted.

Thank you,
