Default koni front 8241-1139Sport not compatible with spring FCS20170 60116

autozone has 2 springs listed for 2002 camaro,
FCS20168 for z28, and FCS20170 for Z28 SS model.
I emailed moog not too long ago asking about technical info regarding Moog 60114 and 60116 springs, which i assume corresponds to the ******* autozone duralast part numbers.

moog tech info:
moog 60114: free height 14.88 inches, load = 1436 lbs.
moog 60116: free height 15.21 inches, load = 1534 lbs.
both state installed height = 10.0 inches and rate of 290 lbs/inch.
at this point i don't even know if this is correct.

when FCS20170 is installed with koni 8241-1139Sport the yellow front adjustable shock, when the car is dropped to the ground the shock/spring does not further compress at all. I have stood on the frame in engine bay to try and bounce front end, and it barely will. this is with no sway bar installed both lower control arm bolts completely loose and tie rod disconnected, so nothing is binding. Just got done disassembling everything, shock is fine, and wheel assembly without shock/spring can be raised up into wheel well.

do koni 8241-1139Sport require a special spring, are they not compatible with stock oem springs?

front wheel off ground or car on ground wheel well gap is the same which is about 6+ inches with FCS20170 spring and koni yellow.

You can use whatever spring with the koni shocks. Did you try any other springs like the eibach blue spings you have there?

My OEM springs are only 14" tall, and I have an extra set of BMR springs that are only 12". Are you sure those springs are for your car?

just ordered powerbuilt compressor tool, the autozone rental cannot install the blue eibach it kicked on me twice tonight and was no where close to getting the upper mount on. my plan in to install my oem eibach spring and see what happens.

those FCS20170 when installed on the shock had to have over 1500 lbs compression already. car simply did not have enough weight to further compress the spring to sit where it's supposed to. i don't understand how you can say use whatever spring.

I really doubt you have the right springs. I didn't have to compress my springs at all to get top nut started on shock. Then the threads just brought the top mount down. One difference though, I was going with performance springs.

The springs are the issue here, even if they are the "right" ones. Moogs always, always, ALWAYS sit sky high.

And if you compare those to a lowering spring like SLP Eibach's which is what this car had before, it's even more tall in comparison.

the springs are definitely the issue, and it's not that they sit high they are not close to being correct for an 11" installed height which is what the koni measures out to.
the shock sat fully extended with weight on wheels all four corners, and my 200 lbs standing in engine bay trying to bounce front end I couldn't move it more than 1/4".

pretty sure my bilstein strut was the same at 11", it matched up next to the koni prior to throwing it out to where i figured at least i got the right shock and the upper perch location was ok. i don't even know if i got the right springs, the FCS20170 were mail order from autozone and they came loose in the box with zero markings.
