Default Brake pad advice

Need new front pads and woukd like opinions on what to go with. Ive tried the search feature but it doesn't yield too many threads with good advice. Car is a 01 camaro that is mainly just street driven, not my daily but just street driven. Have no idea what my current front pads are but they are worn down pretty good and my stopping power isnt that great especially from higher speeds. I know alot of people are gonna say do the ats brembos or one of the other brembo upgrades but for now just wanna do pads and new blank rotors for the front. Was looking at hawk hps or the 5.0's but have seen mixed results with those so was just looking to see what others are running and their experience with it.

I did the Hawk HPS pads. Less dust than stock pads. Quieter than stock pads. Better stopping with slightly higher pedal pressure.
Bottom line? I would use them again.

Nothing wrong with just doing pads and basic blank rotors. Your use description appears to be normal everyday driving use. No need for the bling drilled and slotted rotors.
As in post #2,contact Sam Strano for pads.

o ok sounds good...i used hawks on my other car years back but dont remember if they were hps's or the ceramic ones they sell. Had no complaints about them which is why i am looking at hawks again.

Got in contact with sam and went with ebc yellows and their blank rotors. On a side note upon looking at my brakes the other day realized one of my caliper guide pins is stuck and thats why my passenger side pads and rotor are messed up..how hard are these to break free usually?

A set of vice grips on the head, a little penetrating fluid, elbow grease and it's out. Wire brush it real good. Run a snug fit drill bit through the opening you just removed the pin from. wiggle it around to clean that up. Lube it up and you have yourself a "better" operating system. Not "best" but better!
