Default Brembos that fit 17" Wheels for 4th Gen How to explained with video!

If you want Brembos but want to keep your stock wheels well there's an answer and it's pretty simple. I'm not going to explain how to change brakes but you can find all sorts of video's and howto's online so we'll skip all that. Basically, the ATS (J55)/Base Stingray Caliper Bolt Up to the LS1 Splinder once you drill out the holes to 9/16 which can be done with a drill. You use the stock Fbody Brake lines you just buy new banjo bolts. Bolt everything up and that's pretty much it. There's not much to it other than drilling the holes and doing a regular brake job. Pretty simple. They clear ZR1/SS by quite a lot without any griding. I haven't tried out other wheels but I'm sure with the right spacer they all fit. ZR1 wheels have pretty thick spokes so other wheels may require a thinner spacer.

For LT1 1993-1997 Cars Swap out the Spindle to the LS1 Style (V6 1998-2002 spindle works as well as all 98-02 cars use the same brakes.)

Brake Calipers (Off of a Base Model Stingray, ATS with performance brakes RPO J55 or Buick Regal GS with Brembo package)
Buick Regal GS Calipers - 172-2614 and 172-2615
C7 Stingray Calipers - 172-2619 or 22847796 and 172-2622 or 84089127 (C7 calipers came in many colors and have multiple part numbers for different colors. So pick out the color that suits your ride best!)
ATS J55 - 172-2777 and 172-2768

Pin/Caliper Kit:
GM Part #19264181

Banjo Bolt
Dorman 14100

Caliper Mounting Bolt
11611085

Brake Rotor
Centric Brake Rotor 120.62146 (Off a Base model C7 Corvette Stingray)

Hub Centric 15mm Spacer
Eibach 90.6.15.033.1

Brake Pads
Any that fit a base model C7 Corvette Stingray choose your favorite brand or whatever suits your budget!

Finally a ½" and 9/16" drill bit to drill out your original bolt holes for the caliper which you can get at home depot if you don’t already have them but that’s about it.

Good info. I did the same upgrade, but did not need new banjo bolts? I also used a 15mm adaptor from motorsport-tech for the firehawk rims.

I always read of people running the 15mm spacer for this swap. I've had a set of ls car spindles for a year now to do it, just haven't pulled the trigger on the calipers. I just recently picked up a set of weld rt-s s71's. Wondering if I'll have to pick up a spacer for them to clear, any one done this with these wheels? Also, shout out to OP for the #'s in one spot at the top. The best brakes swap thread has these numbers and info sprinkled all through the pages, so this should help people out too, although I just searched your #'s and came up empty. Went back and found the post I remembered having current #'s and linked it here, post 219. https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...l#post19905496

@z-camaro: NICE. I have the Firehawk wheels also and want to get something better but want to keep the wheels. 15mm isn't too much spacer I guess.

Both of those caliper part numbers are listed as discontinued. Does someone have the part number for ones that say Brembo and not cadillac

@@maroonls1z I've updated the part numbers. Feel free to choose whichever you like. I've put the part numbers for all 3 cars.

How different is the braking ability. Im considering going 6 piston ZO6 calipers but this seems cheaper

Thanks. You might be able to get away with 12-13mm but it would be very tight, and you wouldn't be able to use adaptors like I did. Here's a few other shots to give you an idea of what a 15mm space at all 4 corners looks like.

Thanks! Sounds good, there will be a few hawks running them then.

@@maroonls1z Stops much sooner, pedal feels way better! 4 piston is cheaper but if you want to do 6 pistons I suggest CTS-V Calipers and Rotors. You can check out my video I did on CTS-V 6 Pistons.

How different are the cts-v vs the corvette calipers. I know the corvette one does not require a spacer

@maroonls1z, As far as I know, they're the exact same Caliper. They're both made by Brembo and they're interchangeable between the ATS and C7.

So for these brakes, you enlarge the bolt hole, and then the caliper mounting screw goes right into the caliper body? Can any one post pix of this caliper and how it mounts a little better? I like the idea of this because it does not involve another mounting bracket like the C5 conversion or wilwood units.

It mounts just like any other caliper, nothing special about it. You enlarge the holes so the bigger holes can go in on the spindle.

Ok, I just like to have lots of pictures and know what I get ahead of time. I mean, from the looks of it, the bolts thread into the caliper, and then you don't have a bracket like the stock brakes any more, it's just caliper mounted right to spindle. Seems easy enough. You mentioned a different banjo bolt, no big deal, but can I use the same flex line to the caliper as a stock brake?

Yes, they bolt into the caliper. Brembo are fixed calipers as opposed to floating calipers which are the stock calipers for our cars. The Brembo's mount directly to the spindle in this case. Bracket or adapter is required. Yes you can use the stock brake lines.

The spec on the brake bolt (11611085), in case you need to find them other than from GM, is: M14X2X45,28THD,30 OD
I have also read that brake pads MAY come with the pin and spring kit, so check before you buy extra of those.

ATS J55 - 172-2777 and 172-2768
so is there actually a performance difference in the calipers between the C7, ATS, and Regal GS?

Pin/Caliper Kit:
GM Part #19264181

Banjo Bolt
Dorman 14100

Caliper Mounting Bolt
11611085

Brake Rotor
Centric Brake Rotor 120.62146 (Off a Base model C7 Corvette Stingray)

Hub Centric 15mm Spacer
Eibach 90.6.15.033.1
so the spacer is required?

All the calipers are the same - except the Corvette ones likely have "Corvette" printed on them, the Cadillac ones have "V=" or "Cadillac" printed on them. Or they say "Brembo". Build wise they appear to all be the same, perhaps different colors.

A spacer is only required if your wheels don't have enough clearance. Different wheel styles vary, so you need to measure on your wheel. For example the Firehawk wheel definitely needs a spacer; the SS wheel appears to not need a spacer.

What size studs do you use with the wheel spacer?
