Default Koni str shocks knocking? 99 trans am

I installed rear koni str shocks. One is knocking over bumps. I used the new mounts it came with. Does that mean the shock is no good? I really hate i wasted money on these. They seem a bit worse than the stock shocks. Over bumps and my tire rubs the wheel well now. Should i return these? What's a good shock that's a little bit stiffer?

I went with these from the stock DeCarbons, and they were a big improvement. What do you mean exactly when you say they are knocking?

Either the shock is defective (not impossible) or there was an installation error. Not that it's rocket science to install rear shocks, but it's always possible to make a stupid mistake when doing something simple. Is the upper nut fully snugged down? Were all the grommets properly placed? If the shock is bad, it should be warranteed out for replacement. No need to look to different shocks. These should perform as expected unless something is wrong.

How are your bump stops? If they are stock then they are probably toast. Maybe replacing them with some prothane ones would help out.

When going over bumps it sounds like the shock is shaking inside the hole it's mounted in. Sounds just like a bad shock when they go out

I don't know about torque specs. I've always just run them down snug with an impact. The way you describe it really sounds like it's not snug and rattling in the mounting hole.

I'm going to check again in the morning. I'm pretty sure I've tightened it enough to squeeze the rubber mounts

I think I am having this same issue as well on the front driver side. Did you find the culprit?
