Default vertical Front lower control arm bolt

I've read where several people have stated that when the bolt is rusted into the bushing sleeve, they cut the bolt. My question is, where do they cut? I've already had to cut the driver's side rack bolt as well as my frozen sway bar bolt, so cutting isn't an issue, it's where you have access to cut off the top and bottom. Also, what size socket wrench to use on the bolt (not the nut). 18mm seems a bit to large, 17mm too small, and 11/16" too small, 3/4 too large.
thanks

OK, one day later and the passenger control arm is out! I had to use a diablo diamond blade in my reciprocating saw, and it was able to cut through the bushing case and bolt in less than 5 minutes, lubricating with wd40. By removing the front bolt of the control arm, I was able to move the arm around enough that I was able to get the saw blade in the opening for the rear bushing. Wrestled the bottom of the bolt out by tightening the nut, and had to hit the top of the bolt with a little saw action that got the top part of the bushing to separate from the bolt. It's almost beer o'clock, so it's time to quit and have a beer. Will reassemble tomorrow, as I had purchased used arms and rebuilt those with new bushings and ball joints. Whew!

Yeah, it was PITA when I removed mine too. I was replacing the arms, so I just cut the arm in half for better access. And carbide tipped blades are impressive.

Yes it seems to be pretty common. I also had to pull out the reciprocating saw

Finally all back in the car. Driver's side lower arm vertical bushing needed to be cut in three different location, but got 'er done. Just finished rebuilding power steering pump, already installed new steering rack. Hope to get the car done tomorrow, then to get an alignment. Not bad for a soon to be 69 year old guy! I have one of those scissor jacks so the car was nice and high for all this work (about 2 feet). Next, headers and Y.

All done - It's beer time. Only thing left is an alignment.
