So three of the bolts I was able to crank out of the control arms but one was stuck so cut it out. I found a replacement at Lowe’s and attached a picture of other short stock bolt with new one. In case you can’t see it’s 8.8 grade M12-1.75-90. It’s not the exact thickness but it should be fine right? This isn’t a track car or DD.
I did see some other companies offering replacement bolts or new bolts with aftermarket control arms and they look like mine as well. 8.8 for mine to be exact if that helps compared to 8.
So you're replacing a 14mm x 2.0 bolt with a 12mm x 1.75 bolt, not a good idea.
What is the grade marked on the factory bolt ? 8.8 is the 2nd lowest grade. Above 8.8 are 9.8, 10.9, 12.9.
Over at 3rd Gen guys used that size unless there is a big difference between the 4th Gen I have no idea. Took me a bit but the factory bolt says 10.9 on it so like you said better stick with that. Thanks.
I have found a GM replacement bolt from some vendors for decent prices but don’t include a nut. So will check advanced if they have something the same size and 10.9 class. Also a local specialty hardware shop here carries some hardcore bolts and have 10.9 in stock so will check them and just weld the hook washer thing onto the bolt.
