Default !Front Swaybar, How much time reduction?

Hey guys,

I've searched and haven't been able to find out how much time is able to be reduced by taking off the front swaybar. I don't want to remove it if the gains are going to be minimal. Thanks

Derek

Do a search in the drag racing section. There's a ton of info on this, but be prepared for the car to drive like a boat.

With the mods that you have, you should gain about .2 like Gloveperson said. Its really only going to help at the launch where your 60' is going to drop from the better weight transfer.

My opinion would be lower than 2 tenths. Maybe a tenth at most. I take the swaybar off most of the time. It's not a biggie, 15 minutes or so if you have ramps. A bit longer with a jack and stands. It's free,,, doesn't take long,,,, I think it's worth it for a tenth.

Can someone explain why this gives you better times. Is it weight reduction?

Removing the front sway bar allows the front end of the car to rise more, putting more weight on the rear. More traction. As far as weight reduction goes,,, the bar, brackets, end links and bushings might weigh something like 15-20lbs at most {for the stock hollow bar}. It ain't much but it's free.

Your car will drive like a boat, in short. And I don't mean it will drive poorly, I mean it will feel like you are driving an actual boat.

Just remove the endlinks and hold the bar up with a tie wrap or something. It won't take 10 minutes to do and you will be able to see what it feels like. I will say that even without the front sway bar,,,, my Firebird handles better than my Kia Rio or my 90 Mustang with 200K miles on it.

I have had my front swaybar off for over a year and i hardly notice it. Even the day after i took it off i didn't notice it a whole lot. I dont get into the twisties much but the car still handles pretty well...daily driver.

Hardly notice it? Hopefully with all the torque you're making with your little set up there, you're pulling the wheels off the ground.

i didn't have front or back for the first few months after i bought my car this summer......it wasn't bad.....i have an eibach rear now.......it handles fine.....the only time i ever noticed it was when i was on some swooping curves and i was doing 120(racing a mustang and a srt10)....a little sketchy, but i don't fool around above 100 too much......quick turns and things i don't have a problem.....

Hmmm... might just have to pull it off. Sounds like a good reduction with small compromise. I live in houston with mostly highway or freeways so i dont really see where i will need it too much.

Best thing to do is probably take it off for the track only IMHO
