Default worth it to upgrade to 1le front springs?

I am planning on some bilstein hd's for my car in the near future and was wondering if i should go ahead and get some 1le front springs at the same time cause i don't wanna do the work twice. Should I even consider getting the rears too? Or should I just keep the stock springs? I won't be doing any autocross or roadracing, I just want my daily driver to handle great on the street without sacrificing any ride height or too much ride quality. Thanks.

If i where you I would buy Knoi SA and 1LE front springs! If you want the car a 1" lower there is a second spring clip on the shocks! Best bang for the buck shock!

Bilstein HD's and 1LE springs are not the best Combination. The HD's need to be revalved to the stronger 1le Springs .

It seems to be working well for me. I installed the 1LE Springs (f&r) w/Bilsteins HD within weeks of buying my T/A new. It was a great upgrade over the marshmellow like stock suspension. I hope the combo works equally well with the 18" wheels & Tires I just bought

Well I haven't found a place that sells just the springs so I guess i'll be driving on bilsteins and stock springs for a while. I tried gyrhead, but they said their front springs aren't true 1le's (310 lb/in).

Wow, I haven't checked the Part numbers in awhile. I didn't realize the Front 1LE spring had also been discontinued. I knew the rear had been discontinued long ago. I would snag a set of the rears now while you can find them.

My Set is off a '98 SS. I bought them from someone in late '98 for $50.00. they were supposed to go on my '98 Z, But I never installed them. So I put them on my T/A.

Edit: my Second choice was the SLP eibach/Bilstein Setup

Well I haven't actually tried it but i've heard if you order 1le springs from a dealer they'll give you stock springs instead.

all the 1LE spring part numbers come up as invalid on GM parts Direct. That is too bad. it was very nice upgrade, the Stock suspension on my '02 was way too soft. It felt allot softer the the Stock Suspension on my '98Z28.

P Mack, I haven't tried the dealers, but I second what BadBlueBuggy said. I contacted GM Parts Direct after not finding the springs, and they sent me two parts numbers which were for stock hieght springs... They were going to sell me the same stuff I had and not tell me they were the WRONG parts. I was quite unhappy.

I'm running front: 1LE springs, koni SA, 35mm hollow sway (and STB)
rear: stock Z28 springs, Bilst 3RD gen, 1LE sway (21mm) (and LCA, PHB, TA..)

Great set up for a daily driver/weekend corner carving. I'd like more camber though. I think the P/N for those front springs is 22132887.

I have 1LE springs in the front with bilstein HD's. The ride is firm and kinda stiff while just the driver is in, throw in a pax or more, the ride is going to get bumpier and stiffer.

You can still get front 1LE springs, but the rear 1LE springs are no longer available from GM.

Both part numbers 22132561 and 22132887 (Front 1LE) have been discontinued.

Bought my 1LE fronts from a guy in Fla. They were unused. People let these springs go in the sales forum from time to time. Just keep a look out. Again, awesome springs. Linear, firm yet comfortable, reduce body roll and nose dive, won't drop the undercarriage onto speed bumps...

OK I guess I missed that earlier in the thread. I said that because this was the situation when I bought mine.

In reality though, 1LE's aren't that much stiffer than stock; I have them. So why knock yourself out to get them? The best thing you can do is get a set of coil overs with ERS springs. That way you can specify any spring rate you want, and set the ride height to anything you want. 500 lbs/in front and 150 lbs/in rear seem to be a proven combo.

What's the deal with convertible WS6's and SS's getting this front spring: 22077196

The 1LE numbers are 22077197 and 22077195. So in the 96 spring a stock spring, made just for convertibles, what?

Thanks.

According to the '93-'02 Firebird Parts manual. Part number 22077196 is the "Product ID" number For "Service" Number 22077197 and 22077195. these are the standard 292 lbs/in Front spring that all '93-02 V-8 non Ram air cars received. the '00-02 V-6 and Ram Air Cars also Received these Springs Regardless if they were Convertable or not.

22132561 and 22132887 are the Front 1LE numbers and only came stock on the ram air cars before '00.
