Default 1le suspension question

I have read before about being able to lower my car without change out the spings. I have a 02 SS with a slp 1le suspension with the koni shocks. What's the best way to lower my car with this suspension

That will lower the car about an inch (the support ring lands are about 5/8ths apart.) Unfortunately you still have to pull the springs to do it.

The Koni D/A's don't have the lower spring perch. Only the SA ones have that.

You can pull out the rubber donut from the top of the rear springs. That will lower the rear about 1/2".

He's right. You can't do that with DA's (I have a set). That is only the Koni SA's that have that option on the front shocks.

A good machine shop can fix that.

The front springs can be trimmed shorter while still on the car, but a 3/4" drop or so is the most you want to go. More than that just isn't practical as you will bottom out too easily.

The more you lower it, the stiffer the spring you need. So if you want to go lower than 3/4", you will need to replace the springs with some stiffer ones.

It's been done before. I wouldn't do it (I have nice goodies in my suspension), but VinnyV specifically asked about something like this, so I mentioned it.

The process is this. Jack up the car, remove wheel. Let suspension hang. Use a spring compressor to compress the spring. Take a cutoff wheel and remove whatever you want from the lower, big end of the spring. Rotate plastic cup to new position, release spring pressure, then put everything back on.

Several people have done it.
