Default Can lower ball joint be removed?

My lower ball joint on my 01 z28 is shot. I tried replacing it myself but there was just no getting it out of the lower control arm. So I plan on taking it a local shop tomorrow. A friend of mine was telling me that he thought on the later year camaros that the entire control arm had to be replaced? that the lower ball joint on 01's could not be removed? is this true?

It can be removed qnd replaced, you would need a press to press it out. If you just take the A-arm into the shop and have them replace the ball joint it will cost alot less then having them tear the whole care apart.

But yes it can be done
