On the outside, they all look the same.
It's that long piece that runs along the front of the k-member.
I do have a picture of the v6 fast ratio rack sitting next to an LS1 rack, but it's on the other pc... If you need it, I'll post it up somewhere. It was in a couple of posts here, but I can't find it now.
p.s. I have a v6 fast ratio y87 rack for sale if you're interested. It's off my v6 car from before the v8 swap.

GM changed the linkage at different times for the V6 and V8. The steering linkage for V6 versus V8 cars looks like this:
93-97 V8 = 93-99 V6 ("rag" type joint)
98-02 V8 = 00-02 V6 (metal joint)
So if you get a steering rack out of a 1998 V8, you either need the linkage from a 1998-2002 V8 or a 2000-2002 V6. If you use a 1998 V8 rack with a 1998 V6 linkage your steering wheel will be 90º off.
The V8 and Y87 racks are a 14.1:1 ratio whereas the stock V6 rack is a 16:1 ratio. The Y87 and V8 racks are exactly the same.

If it's based on an LT1, then any of them should work.
The ls1 shaft angles more to the driver's side and to the rear.
This lets it clear the #1 exhaust tube, and the low-mount alternator.
