Default People with Hotchkis STB come in

I just bought a Hotchkis stb and I need to bend the oil dip stick. How did you all bend yours? I'm worried about breaking something.

Also was it hard to get the brace on the brackets? It looks like I'll have to pry it a bit to get the bolt in the bracket and the brace.

Thanks

It shouldnt be in the way at all, it should be fine... Put the bolts on losely on both sides then tighten them after all the bolts are on...

Some of us have to drive our cars in the winter. In the east, it's almost impossible to keep an engine bay clean for days, sometimes weeks after it snows.

My dipstick is right under the stb. I tried to just move it a little but it wasn't enough. I was up till midnight working on the car so I decided before I called it quits for the night I would try it one more time. I ened up breaking the dipstick handle. I have fuel rail covers on the car and I didn't want to pull them off to try to bend the dipstick tube. I ended up bending the tube a bit but I'm not sure if it was enough since I was mad about breaking the dipstick I quit and went to bed. This will teach me to work on something so late. I'm trying to get alot of things done for autorama and I'm running out of time. To top it off the STB was missing two washers so I had to go and pick some up. I'll try it again today and take some pictures of my dirty engine bay. I drive my car everyday so I know how it is to have a dirty motor.

Stick a small screw driver into the tube and then hold the tube in the middle. Then slightly bend the top part of the tube upwards. Worked perfect for me.

Its blue, but so much salt had caked up on it from highway driving that the car was white.

im glad you explained yourself.

I just pushed on it and it bent some. If its not enough I'll use a screw driver. Thanks everyone. I went to the dealer and the dipstick only cost $12, I should have paid better attention and I wouldn't have had to spend that. Oh well I'll put it on today

Thanks to everyone that responded to my thread. I got the stb on the car last night. I'll take some pictures today and post them up. I have to say that polished stb looks great on the car.
