Suspension question for road racing
In a few years after I get my Corvette I plan on building a track only car. The Corvette I will be getting will be a C6 Z06, and I would like to try to build a track car that handles just as well as my Corvette. Don't laugh, it's not unrealistic once you see what kind of tires I plan on using. I'm going to use the same kind of tires they use on Troyer Asphalt Modified race cars. They are nothing but Huge slicks all the way around. In the front, I'm going to do an unequal length A-arm independent setup.
But for the rear I would like to use a solid axle to lower cost and I'm pretty sure the Troyers use solid axles. Now, remember this will be a fully hand built car for track use only, so, All ideas are open. The most important thing is Road Racing, although it will see autocrosses, drag strips, and other stuff, my main priority is Road Racing.
Ok, so my question is....
What type of solid axle rear suspension should I put on a custom built track car?
Right now, a friend of mine has me leaning toward Truck arm suspension, but I am open to All ideas. And if you think Independent can actually be done as cheap as a solid axle, tell me how, just remember I will probably be pushing about 600hp.
By the way, this is a Troyer Asphalt Modified
