Default How to "test" wheel bearing?

I cant find the culprit of a slight pulsing vibration I get through the front end of the car. It gets worse if I make a slight turn left such as going around a bend on the interstate. That right there tells me it might be a wheel bearing. I've had the car in the air and find no extra movement out of any wheel..

Any ideas?

Jack up the car, grab the wheel thats in question, and giggle it. If you feel a lot of free play and slop, replace the hub.

I had the same problem a few years ago as you describe.I changed the hubs thinking that was the problem.Turned out it was warped rotors.

The fronts are brand new.

And for the other 2 guys... did you read the whole post?!?

I've had the car in the air and find no extra movement out of any wheel..
The rear rotors are slightly warped but i dont see how they would transmit the pulse into the steering wheel at highway speeds and worsen when I turn slightly.

Also for what its worth, I should have said this in the first post. The pulsing vibration is WORSE after a night at he track or just a few WOT runs. After a couple of days it goes back to nearly non existant.

Have you checked your wheel balance? If the front rotors aren't warped, and you don't have any free play in the wheel, you might want to check the balance. Just trying to eliminate things here.

Bad wheel bearings will usually "growl" (at least the one I have going bad right now is really growling). If it is pulsing/shaking the steering wheel, I'd think it could be brake rotors. Do you still have the stock rotors on the front of the car? If so, I can tell you that you can warp and "un warp" them by getting them hot. So, you may be heating them at the track and getting some warpage, then, over the next few days, you heat them and cool them slowly which relaxes the metal. I found out about this by going out to make sure my fronts were fully warped (it had to go to the dealer for warped rotors, and I was going to make sure they were fully warped, not just somewhat warped). I got them extremely hot, no more warp? I'd not seen that before, but my car did just that on stock rotors. This may be similar to your issue.

Haha.. no dont stop helping!

Trackbird... yes they are NEW front brembo blanks. I get no growling, but it does vibrate a little more when i make a sweeping turn on the interstate or lane change.

You may have rust on the hub under the disc, causing some "wobble". Or, you may have a stuck slider pin and the flex in the front bearings is allowing the rotor to drag the caliper in a turn because the caliper can't "float" properly.

My best guesses.
