whats this hose mod?

I am going to order the DMS Springs tuesday when they open up.

I am taking the rear isolator out but I need to know about this hose issue.

Also.. I have my bumpstops CUT OFF. I dont run them anymore. Can someone please tell me if I will have MAJOR issues and if so.. is there something I can put inbetween the springs to make sure they dont compress too much but not screw up lowering the car?

Thanks.

I run 295x35x18's out back and the z06's were nailing the bumpstops.

DMS has great customer service by the way. they also put alot of time and effort into their springs. i'm going for hotchkis springs definately. i like the stance better and i want a more comfortable spring.

Wow, a good topic indeed. I have the DMS springs and absolutely love them. On my first F-body I had Eibachs and hated them. To me, the DMS springs have a great stance and the ride is incredible. As you can see with a lot of the reviews above as well as some on their site, many agree with me. My friend has Hotchkis on his Camaro and it looks good, however we both agree that my DMS ones look just as good but like the ride better. And qwik28 I completely agree, they (DMS) has excellent customer service.

Here are some pics from their site of cars with springs http://www.dynamicmotorsports.com/customers_cars.htm

More reviews here...http://www.dynamicmotorsports.com/spring_reviews.htm

Good luck with your decision.

hose mod: when you remove the rear isolators, and install the springs, you dont want the metal of the spring, on the body of the car... this will cause lots of road noise and rattles and stuff like that. So you take some heater hose that you can get at Napa and you slide it over the top coil of the spring where it is going to make contact with the body of the car. You may have to grease up the spring a little, to make the hose go on as far as you will need it to go. Thats basically all there is to it.

so you just cut some hose.. and place it SIDEWAYS or OVER the spring (top of spring).

I know this sounds sooo newbee because it is. I am SUCH a newb to the suspension world.

I am trying to lower this car and it is killing me the choices.

Plllllussss I dont have bumpstops. I grinded them off long ago lol

u dont put it sideways... u run the spring into the hose... U take the spring and grease up the top coil, then u take some 5/8" or 3/4" heater hose and run it onto the spring, kinda like insulating the top coil of the spring. Does that give u a better picture?

There is some thread on here that talks about a rubber spacer that u can put on the top of the rear shocks that will perform like a bumpstop. This way you can have more room in your wheel well and not worry about being without a bumpstop. I just dont know where it is.

excellent.. thank you SOO much ws6vert.

Can you do the spacer as a bumpstop and not need the hose mod?

I have NO bumpstops. I mean.. I grinded the complete bumpstops off. So now I need to find spacers or helpers and if this can be done.. would I need the hose mod still?

you da man by the way.. thanks for helping out

More pics below. Good luck!
I'm likin' the Hotchkis. Your ride is sweet, ulySSes. I, too, have been trying to decide on some springs. What shocks are you using with your Hotchkis springs? And, do you have any problems w/scraping, driveways, speedbumps, etc? Mine's a DD and I don't want to deal with that everyday.

NO no no... the hose mod is only for where the spring touches the body of the car to keep vibration and road noise out.

The Rubber Spacer that you can put on the top of your shock will take the place of the bump stop that u grinded off... when the shock compresses it will only go as far as the rubber thingy and in esence stop the body of the car from hitting the axle.

Does this kind of clear things up?
